[en] The scientific and engineering aspects of waste management safety are no longer of exclusive importance. The ability of waste management organizations to communicate effectively and to adapt to an evolving social context within which waste management decisions are made, have emerged as critical contributors to public confidence. This changing context, along with examples of how waste management professionals and organizations are working to improve the quality of their communication about the safety of radioactive waste disposal facilities, are discussed.
