AbstractAbstract
[en] The objective of this work was to compile studies of natural radioactivity in Belo Horizonte and identify the relevance and potential for continuing these studies. To this end, published works that used the metropolitan area of Belo Horizonte, Brazil - RMBH as an object of study of natural radioactivity were reviewed and analyzed. The selected research covered several locations focusing on gamma and alpha radiation present in soil, rocks, air and water. The analysis methods used electret ionization chamber detectors, AlphaGuard, CR-39, Doseman PRO, RAD7, alpha spectrometer and gamma spectrometer. The selected works confirm the potential of the Belo Horizonte region for studying natural radioactivity and its relevance, as well as suggesting the continuation of related studies, since determining the origin of radon and the presence of natural radionuclides can contribute to the optimization of measurements of mitigation. As the studies themselves suggest, the high activities found were part of the data collection of a radiometric study and were not intended to assess the health risk of the city's population.
