[en] In order to study the energy levels of the magnetic excitations in antiferromagnetic Co0, the cross-section for inelastic n-scattering of Co0 powder at various scattering angles theta and energy transfer from 15 to 70 MeV. For large theta purely nuclear scattering is observed, while for small theta the cross section is predominantly due to magnetic scattering with some nuclear contributions. The cross-section shows several peaks, which have not yet been observed. By comparison of the results of pure CoO and of Cosub(0.8)Nisub(0.2)O two peaks in the cross-section can be assigned to single ion-like transitions in the ground state multiplet of Co²⁺ in the antiferromagnetic phase.
