AbstractAbstract
[en] Results of the seventh All-Russian Congress of Roentgenologists and Radiologists, which took place in September, 24-27, 1996, were summed up. Reports on actual Russian problems of radiotherapy and radiation diagnosis were presented and discussed. Chief directions of scientific research in these fields were determined

AbstractAbstract
[en] Analysis of dose burdens owing to medical X-ray studies is carried out in comparison with sick rate and mortality in various regions of the USSR, which defines the efficiency of radiological aid in an indirect way. It is shown that at present effective equivalent dose for the population of the USSR is 1.2-1.5 mSv/year. Irradiation during roentgenoscopy and radiophotography of chest organs, as well as roentgenoscopy of gastrointestinal tract without X-ray image intensifiers, is a considerable part of radiation at the expense of medical X-ray examinations. Reduction and ordering of these studies, as well as application of X-ray image intensifiers, will permit to decrease dose burden on the population. Organization of roentgenological service as an independent scientific-methodological and practical unit directly subordinated to health protection departments will promote the reduction of the population irradiation

AbstractAbstract
[en] An analysis of clinical, electrocardiographic, roentgenological and biochemical changes was made in 170 patients with esophageal carcinoma before, during and after radiation therapy conducted by a continuous (34 patients) and split course (136 patients). A rise in sinus tachycardia, appearance of extrasystolia and His' bundle right branch block, lowering of the ST-segment, flattening or appearance of negative T wave, an increase in the activity of creatine phosphokinase and aspartate aminotransferase in the blood serum were noted in a number of patients during radiation therapy. The changes were observed more often and were more marked in patients who had received continuous telegammatherapy. Irrespective of the method of radiotherapy in the restoration of the processes of excitation and conduction, improvement of metabolism in the cardiac muscle, a decrease in dysproteinemia, an increase in the content of electrolytes in the blood were noted
