AbstractAbstract
[en] The Digital Camera approach will meet the present and future foreseeable needs of the Nuclear Medicine profession: Digital Imaging, fast Dynamic Studies, Three-Dimensional Reconstruction, and enhancement of low signal localization. The imaging computer itself has the potential to handle inputs from imaging devices other than nuclear detectors (Ultrasound, X-ray, etc.), providing the basis for an all digital imaging department

AbstractAbstract
[en] Camera deadtime presents a major problem in the quantitation of dynamic studies. Appropriate correction factors should be applied before quantitation is attempted. Tables, graphs and equations are presented for the demonstration of the effect and calculation of the errors introduced by systems of various deadtime. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A dual-channel scanning system has been described permitting the simultaneous imaging in individual color of the distribution of two gamma-emitting radioisotopes. In those cases where two organs are adjacent and concentrate the same isotope, they may be displayed in separate color if one of the organs concentrates another gamma-emitting isotope with a different energy. This is accomplished by individual color readout of this isotope and the display of the subtraction of this isotope from the common isotope in another color. By using two facing scintillation probes on either side of the individual being scanned, two overlapping organs at different depths concentrating the same isotope can be color differentiated by a dual-channel playout of each probe. The principal application of these dual-channel scanning methods to date has been the simultaneous display of the liver and pancreas in individual colors using 198Au and 75selenomethionine. Characteristic scans have been obtained which differentiate a number of disease states from the normal pancreas and liver. The pancreatic and liver diseases studied and characterized are carcinoma of the pancreas, pancreatic insufficiency, acute recurrent pancreatitis, pancreatic pseudocyst and Laennec's cirrhosis, hepatoma and metastatic malignancy in the liver. The uptake of 75selenomethionine in malignant lesions in many instances produces positive scans of these tumors in contrasting color to the liver. Depth discrimination in color with the two-probe system has permitted the lateralization of intracranial lesions, the color of the display being proportional to the depth of the lesion. The discrimination of depth and gamma-ray energy by dual-channel color scanning and its general application in visualizing other organs has been accomplished. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The use of I125 as I125-iodide for scanning of the thyroid and of thyroid carcinoma métastasés and as I125-labelled Rose Bengal for scanning of the liver has been investigated in our laboratories. In some patients, the thyroid scans and the scans of thyroid carcinoma metastases were repeated with I131. The liver scans were repeated with colloidal Au198. Cold nodules in the thyroid which could not be detected with I131 were clearly seen with I125. Anterior métastasés in the lungs could be differentiated from posterior métastasés with I125, while with I131 this was not possible. Using the same doses of radioactivity the background with I131 was much higher and could not be eliminated, as this would have reduced the counting rate over the lesions to levels which could not be detected. Some of the photoscans and mechanical scans of livers carried out with colloidal Au198 could not be interpreted. However, ''cold'' lesions were clearly seen on the scans of the same livers with I125-labelled Rose Bengal. (author)

(author)[ru]
