AbstractAbstract
[en] A series of mesoporous materials under reflux conditions have been synthesized with two silicon sources (fumed silica and sodium silicate) and lanthanum added. The following Si/La molar ratio was used in the samples: 100; 75; 50 and 25. The calcined products were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction, nitrogen adsorption isotherms and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDS). The BET surface area gradually decreases with an increase in the lanthanum content of the LaxMCM-41 samples. Moreover, the average pore size tends to decrease along with the increase in the La content in the samples

AbstractAbstract
[en] The magnetic properties of substituted hard-magnetic M-type ferrites are surveyed. A combined La-Co substitution leads to magnets of compositions Ba1-xLaxFe12-xCoxO19 and Sr1-xLaxFe12-xCoxO19 (x= 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4). Due to this substitution, the anisotropy as well as the coercivity increases. The effect of the ion size was studied on the system (Sr1-yCay)1-xLaxFe12-x Co0.75xFe2+0.25xO19 (x= 0.2, 0.4; y= 0, 0.33, 0.66, 1). Additionally, Sm substitution which leads to a strong increase of the coercivity was studied, but the effect on the anisotropy is small (1%)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The behaviour of the available light curves of Jupiter and Saturn satellites is shown to change steadily from inner to outer satellites. The change in reflectivity of satellites with orbital motion could be explained assuming that dark meteoroidal material accumulates on a given portion of the satellite's surface, which was once mainly covered with ice or snow. The preferential impact location on the satellite's surface could be a consequence of the perturbing action of the planet on the motion of interplanetary material. (Auth.)

[en] The results of UV observations, with the IUE, of the Mg II H and k lines of HD206860, a GOV star, are reported. The aim of the observations was to search for short-term variability of the chromospheric emission connected with the rotation of the star. (U.K.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A method for the fluorimetric determination of scandium with 1,2,7-trihydroxyanthraquinone in dimethylformamide medium is described. The calibration graphs obtained by the normal, synchronous, and synchronous first and second derivative techniques are linear between 12 and 225 ng/ml, and the detection limit is 2 ng/ml. The method is applied to the determination of Sc(III) in two simulated and two naturally occurring rocks. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] As part of the planned 'Pluto-Charon Mutual Eclipse Season Campaign', one mutual event was observed at the ESO Observatory on July 10, 1986 and seven mutual events were observed at the Serra La Nave stellar station of Catania Astrophysical Observatory from April 29 to July 21, 1987. At ESO the measurements were performed at the 61-cm Bochum telescope equipped with a photon-counting system and U, B, V, filters; at Serra La Nave the Cassegrain focus of the 91-cm reflector was equipped with a photon-counting system and B and V filters. The observed light losses and contact times do not show relevant systematic deviations from the predicted ones. An examination of the behavior of the B and V light curves gives slight indications of a different slope of the B and V light loss of the same event for a superior or an inferior event, and shows that the superior events are shallower at wavelengths longer than B. 6 refs
