AbstractAbstract
[en] The bubble chamber BEBC, filled with a heavy Ne-H/sub 2/ mixture, was exposed to a low energy neutrino beam at the CERN PS to search for ν/sub e/ interactions originated from ν/sub μ/ →ν/sub e/ oscillations. Preliminary results on a subsample of events corresponding to 2.7 . 10/sup 18/ protons on target give Δm/sup 2/<0.17 eV/sup 2/ for maximum mixing and sin/sup 2/2θ<0.03 for Δm/sup 2/≅2.5 eV/sup 2/

AbstractAbstract
[en] The various efforts, which are being undertaken to build surface detectors of extraterrestrial neutrinos using the Cerenkov light technique in shallow bodies of water, are reviewed. Other techniques have also been proposed, but the water Cerenkov detectors represent the majority of the present proposals, due to their performance, reliability and cost. They would be able to act both as neutrino and gamma telescopes, improving the present sensitivities by orders of magnitude. Their common main features and capabilities will be discussed and the designs will be briefly presented. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Preliminary results are presented on the y-distributions in anti ν reactions obtained in a recent high acceptance counter experiment (E310) at Fermilab. The data show an energy dependence of dN/dy on E-/sub nu/ from 10 to 200 GeV. The y-distributions at low values of x are much flatter than at higher x, implying a different density of antiquarks at different x. A summary of world data on y-distributions is also presented. 10 references

AbstractAbstract
[en] The results are presented of a preliminary analysis of 5000 ν and 5000 anti-ν events obtained in the high acceptance counter experiment (E-310) at Fermilab. The data show a dependence of a dσ/dy on Esub(ν). There is qualitative agreement of the data with predictions incorporating asymptotic freedom. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The transverse shower shape of the energy deposition of hadrons in the NOMAD lead glass calorimeter has been studied by exposing a prototype of this calorimeter to pion test beams of various momenta and incident angles. Large event-to-event fluctuations in the shower shape and significant energy depositions far from the incident hadron were observed making it difficult to associate all the deposited energy to the incident hadron that caused it. Since in the NOMAD detector the momenta of charged hadrons are measured by a magnetic spectrometer, such an association is necessary to be able to subtract from the calorimeter all the energy caused by the observed charged hadrons in order to avoid double counting. Probability functions based on the measurements have been developed to describe fluctuations of the lateral shower shape. Starting from these functions, an algorithm is developed for identifying the energy deposition associated to a charged hadron. The identification and separation of overlapping showers based on these functions is also discussed. The Monte Carlo simulation of the calorimeter reproduces the test beam data well therefore allowing the application of the algorithm at angles and momenta not studied in the test beam. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The time distribution of a sample of 192 π+ π-π0 decays of the K0-meson produced by K+ charge exchange has been analysed and the ratio of the K0sub(s) CP-violating amplitude to the K0CP-conserving has been measured: (eta)sub(+-0)=x+iy =-(0.04+-0.18)sup(L)+i(0.75+0.30-0.35). Assuming x=y=0 GAMMA sub(long-lived K0 yields π+π-π0) =(2.32+0.13-0.15) 106s-1 is obtained. The energy dependence of the decay matrix element is found to be α = - 0.32+-0.03
