AbstractAbstract
[en] The [11C]carbonation of simple Grignard reagents (RMgX, R = Et, Pr, cyclo-Bu; X= Br) with cyclotron-produced [11C]carbon dioxide followed by direct treatment of the 11C adducts with phthaloyl dichloride and 2,6-di-t-butylpyridine affords [1-11C]acid chlorides in useful radiochemical yields (> 10-30%, decay-corrected from 11CO2), as assessed by HPLC and TLC of the labelled amides formed by reaction with 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline. With suitable precautions these [1-11C]acid chlorides can be isolated at high specific activity within 15 min from radionuclide production as labelling agents for potential radiopharmaceuticals for PET. The preparation of [1-11C]benzoyl chloride without isolation has also been demonstrated. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Nucleophilic substitution by no-carrier added (NCA) [18F]fluoride at cyclic sulphamates provides an efficient route to NCA [18F]fluoro-analogues of the potent N-Methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonist, MK 801. Thus chemically and radiochemically pure NCA 5-[18F]fluoromethyl- and 5-β-[18F]fluoroethyl-10,11-dihydro-5H-dibenzo[a, d]cyclohepten-5,10-imine can be prepared for i.v. injection in 25-30% radiochemical yield (decay-corrected) respectively, from cyclotron-produced [18F]fluoride in 2.5 h. AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper reports an advance in cell labelling with the use of a new water-soluble metal chelate 111In-tropolonate. In contrast to 111In-oxinate and 111In-acac, 111In-tropolonate efficiently labels blood cells in plasma. As a result the cell damage associated with the removal of the plasma is avoided and the time for cell labelling is reduced. A new method of isolating granulocytes is also given. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Lockheed Martin federal systems has developed a state-of-the-art radiation tolerant 0,25 μm CMOS capability that is compatible with commercial foundries as well as radiation hardened fabrication. A technology test chip was designed, fabricated and evaluated for performance, power and radiation hardness in order to validate the methodology and evaluate the technology. Testing results show that -) the active transistor threshold shift is negligible for 0.25 μm CMOS, -) the hardened STI (shallow trench isolation) can support Mega-rad applications, and -) the holding voltage is well beyond the operating voltage of 2.5 V. This technology is intended to support high density, high performance and low power space applications

AbstractAbstract
[en] S-[1-(2,3-Diaminophenoxy) ]-3'-(N-t-butylamino)propan-2'-ol has been synthesized in three steps from 2,3-dinitro-phenol and the chiral auxiliary, S-glycidyl-3-nitrobenzenesulphonate, to provide a precursor for labelling S-(3'-t-butylamino-2'-hydroxypropoxy)-benzimidazol-2-one (S-CGP 12177) with the short-lived positron-emitting radionuclide, carbon-11. Reaction of the diamine with [11C]phosgene, itself derived from no-carrier-added cyclotron-produced [11C]methane, provides radiochemically and chemically pure S-[carbonyl-11C]CGP 12177 in > 95% enantiomeric excess after HPLC. Automated apparatus is described for safely producing up to 5.9 GBq (160 mCi) of S-[11C]CGP 12177 with high sp. act. in a form suitable for human intravenous injection at only 30 min from the end of radionuclide production. S-[11C]CGP 12177 is preferred to the formerly described racemate as a radioligand for the study of β-adrenergic receptors in vivo by positron emission tomography. (author)
