AbstractAbstract
[en] Using a crossed-beams technique, we have measured absolute cross sections for the quasi-resonant charge-exchange reaction C2+ + B+ → C+ + B2+ by coincident detection of the product ions C+ and B2+ for CM-energies between 1.3 and 160 keV. The reverse reaction was also investigated in the energy range between 2.5 and 80 keV: B2+ + C+ → B+ + C2+. The theoretical treatment is based on the correlation diagrams for the system (CB)3+ and shows that distinct channels are responsible for the direct and inverse reactions. The results of calculations are in good agreement with the experimental data. (Author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Recombination of Ar-like Sc3+ ions has been studied experimentally at the TSR for center of mass energies ranging from approximately 12-18 eV. In this energy range rather broad resonances from short lived Sc2+(3s23p53d22F) intermediate states are expected. For these resonances recent theoretical work predicts strongly asymmetric lineshapes due to quantum mechanical interferences between radiative and dielectronic recombination channels. The study of this heavy, low-charged ion suffered from a high background due to electron capture and the outcome of our experiment does not yet allow for a conclusive test of the theoretical predictions

AbstractAbstract
[en] After an extended upgrading period at the Experimental Storage Ring (ESR) of the GSI in Darmstadt, an experiment on recombination of lithium-like uranium has been carried out. A 107.1 MeV/u U89+ beam with up to 500 μA effective current was stored and cooled. In addition to measurements of radiative recombination (RR) and dielectronic recombination (DR) with high energy resolution in the range of 0-90 eV, the diagnostic properties of DR have been utilized to characterize the new cooler setup. Preliminary experimental results for the 1s22p3/25lj(j=3/2,5/2) resonance manifolds are presented and compared with theoretical predictions

[en] Absolute rate coefficients for the dielectronic recombination (DR) of Na8+ ions producing doubly excited states in beryllium-like Na7+ have been measured at the Heidelberg heavy-ion test storage ring (TSR). The investigated electron energy range covers all DR resonances related to 2s→2p1/2 and 2s→2p3/2 Δn=0 core excitations. Resonances related to Δn=1 and Δn=2 transitions of the valence electron are found at relative energies between 50 and 250 eV. At very low energies the resonance group associated with Na7+ (1s22pj7lj') intermediate states has been investigated with an energy resolution and precision that will challenge state-of-the-art theory
