[en] We present results for the reactions anti K⁰p → Λπ⁺ and anti K⁰p → Σ⁰π⁺, for vertical stroke u' vertical stroke < 0.05 (GeV/c)² and kaon momenta between 1 and 8 GeV/c. The experiment was performed in a neutral beam at the PS with a two arm spark chamber spectrometer. The cross sections show strong dependence on beam energy and momentum transfer u'. Λ polarization is compatible with zero. We compare energy dependence of the backward cross sections with the baryon exchange model from πN scattering. (orig.)

[en] Construction and operation of high pressure proportional counters designed for pressures up to 92 atm which work in pure hydrogen are described. This type of counter offering track reconstruction as well as energy loss determination will be employed as live-target for low-energy recoil measurements in elastic np scattering. (Auth.)

[en] The np elastic differential cross section has been measured for incident neutron momenta 100-400 GeV/c in the vertical stroketvertical stroke range 6 x 10^-6 - 5 x 10^-1 (GeV/c)². The np data of this experiment provide a first direct measurement of the hadronic amplitude for vertical stroketvertical stroke < 10^-2 (GeV/c)², which is consistent with the extrapolations from higher vertical stroketvertical stroke values. Our data for vertical stroketvertical stroke < 10^-4 (GeV/c)² are consistent with a rise which can be attributed to Schwinger scattering, caused by the interaction of the neutron magnetic moment with the proton.
