[en] The beam profile monitor system based on infrared thermography provides a direct visual representation of the relative particle density distribution over the total cross section of a particle beam. Advantages of this monitor system, such as monitoring of the total beam cross section, fast scanning (video frequency), no vacuum feedthrough and applicable to high beam power result in an easy beam handling. [en] This invention relates to a device for the measurement of relative density distribution and for the presentation of cross section geometry of accelerated proton, deuteron or other light particle beams during their application. A target is used for the measurement which can remain in the particle beam during irradiation and which absorbs only a small part of kinetic energy. The target has a thickness of at least 10 μm and is fixed within the beam tube system. It consists of a metal or carbon foil. A gas target is applicable, too

[en] In the work the construction of a test stand for testing and optimization of ion sources of the Rossendorf cyclotron U-120 is represented. The design procedure and the construction of the electromagnet, the vacuum chamber with monant, the vacuum system, the power supply and the detecting system are demonstrated. The results of calculations of the motion of ions in the magnetic field are presented. (author)
