AbstractAbstract
[en] We show that the elasticity-driven interaction between vortices in high-κ superconductors, for magnetic fields not so close to Hc2, is mainly due to a non-core contribution overlooked until now. Consequences of the accounting for this non-core contribution when discussing correlations between vortex and crystal lattices are examined

AbstractAbstract
[en] This study consists in the use of different forms of slurry, as an organic fertilizer, on almond trees located in La Aljorra (Cartegena, Murcia). The slurry used comes from a farm near the area of study, which has a treatment system composed by tree parts: a phase separator, a bioreactor and 5 constructed wetlands of vertical flow. Different phases of slurry are obtained from each part of the system. The results show the reduction of most of the parameters lime salinity, BOD5 QOD, nitrate, etc. The use of these effluents as an organic amend in different doses, supposes a sustainable way of management of these residues; at the same time it improves the soil properties and the agronomic quality of the almond tree crop. AbstractAbstract
[en] In the last decades, the irrigated agricultural areas have increased in Murcia, S. E. Spain, especially in the agrarian District Comarca del Campo de Cartagena. A consequence of this increase is the high use of fertilizers resulting to an excess of nutrients such as nitrogen. Another problem associated with the agricultural is the disposal of the increasing amount of organic agricultural residues from post-harvest practices. In this research we will study the effects of recycling crop residues as an organic fertilizer in vegetable production as a disposal management technique to reduce the amount of post-harvest residues. AbstractAbstract
[en] In low-dimensional silicon wires and dots, as supposed earlier (Phys. Rev. B 65 (2002) 115313), hot carrier ballistic transport towards the Si/SiOx interface can enhance the excitation of oxide defect-related photoluminescence (PL) bands. This article presents new experimental results supporting the role of ballistic transport in bright visible photoluminescence of silicon nano-crystallites. The intensity dependences of the 'red' and 'orange' photoluminescence bands on excitation light wavelengths, diameters of Si nano-crystallites and surface area of porous layers have been analysed. The models of optical transitions at the excitation of both PL bands are discussed as well

AbstractAbstract
[en] Cerebral venous thrombosis is a rare entity with widely variable clinical signs: thus, a high degree of suspicion is required for diagnosis. It affects the dural sinuses and may or may not invade cerebral veins. The diagnosis has usually been based on an angiographic study although, at the present time, new noninvasive imaging techniques, such as computed tomography, magnetic resonance and magnetic resonance angiography are being employed in a growing number of cases. Treatment should involve symptomatic and etiologic therapy. Although anti coagulation would appear to be a reasonable option in these patients, it remains controversial. As in other processes such as pulmonary embolism and coronary thrombosis, the introduction of novel and increasingly safe fibrinolytic drugs, together with technical innovations in the field of interventional neuroradiology, is changing the perspectives for the management of these patients. We present the case of a 43-year-old woman with right sinus thrombosis who was treated with local thrombolysis plus alteplase (tissue plasminogen activator). The authors describe the technique employed and review the literature. (Author) 16 refs

AbstractAbstract
[en] Soil Organic Carbon (SOC is an essential components of the global carbon cycle, especially in soils developed from volcanic rocks, due to these soils does not have inorganic carbon. In arid and semiarid areas mineralization of organic carbon is very intense due to climatic conditions, causing soils depletion and therefore desertification. The objective of this study is to determine the content of OC, as a first step in the assessment of desertification. The objective of this study is to determine the content of OC, as a first step in the assessment of desertification processes affecting this area of the southeast of Spain. (Author) 7 refs.

AbstractAbstract
[en] Salinization is one of the main problems of soil degradation in arid and semiarid areas, causing a reduction of soil quality, declining yield and productivity, and even land abandonment. the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of different land uses, particularly agricultural use in the salt content in soil. The study area is located in the surroundings of Murcia city (SE Spain), with an surface of 100 km2, with high agricultural productivity. In order to determine salt content in soil, E. C. was measured in the 1:5 ratio. The results showed that the study area is saline, being the salinity higher when anthropogenic activity is more severe. Agricultural lands present the widest range of data, probably due to the application of poor quality irrigation water, fertilizers and livestock waste. (Author) 9 refs.

AbstractAbstract
[en] Gliomatosis cerebri is a rare infiltrating neoplasm of the glial cells that presents with diffuse involvement in then brain. The progressive and diffuse nature of this lesion, together with the highly variable clinical signs, make its clinical diagnosis difficult. There are no typical findings in computed tomography images. The extension of the tumor is much more reliably determined by magnetic resonance. The diagnosis is suspected in the presence of a diffuse brain lesion with no mass or necrosis producing the overgrowth of cerebral structures and with the tendency to involve the midline connection pathways. We present a case of gliomatosis cerebri in which the magnetic resonance images led to the suspected diagnosis. (Author) 16 refs

AbstractAbstract
[en] The elastofibroma dorse is a benign, nonencapsulated pseudotumor consisting of a proliferation of fibrous tissue and elastic fibers accompanied by fatty tissue. It is usually locate in the scapular region and can be unilateral or bilateral. The computed tomography and magnetic resonance findings are characteristic and, in the proper clinical context, practically pathognomonic: a fat-containing subcapsular mass with an attenuation coefficient and signal intensity similar to those of the adjacent muscles. We report two new cases of elastofibroma dorsi that fulfilled all the clinical and radiologic criteria, enabling the preoperative diagnosis. (Author) 15 refs

AbstractAbstract
[en] The intense mining activity carried out in Cartagena-La Union Mountain, in Murcia region, has provoked extremely high accumulation of heavy metals in the environment. Due to the absence of vegetation cover, these soils are very liable to erosion, either win or water, and they represent the major source of heavy metals pollution for the local environment due to dust blow and leaching of the results of mineral weathering into nearby watercourses. After 4 years of experiments in plots (4 m2), it has been demonstrated the potential use of pig manure to rehabilitate degraded and polluted, soils, increasing carbon content and nutrients, promoting aggregates stability, decreasing mobility of heavy metals and establishing plant cover.
