AbstractAbstract
[en] While energy storage is at the heart of current challenges related to energy transition, and more particularly battery-based energy storage, the authors first shows that this battery-based storage is a major vector of energy transition. They mention the different solutions associated with a flexibility of production and consumption. They propose an overview of the different storage technologies associated with the different types of energy (electrochemical, chemical, electric, thermal, kinetic of potential mechanical). Then, they discuss the various characteristics and technologies of battery-based storage. They outline the usefulness of this storage for the different actors (producer, network manager, market operator, industrial, user). They discuss economic, technical, organisational, administrative blocking points to be overcome for a massive deployment of battery-based storage in France. However, they notice that the context is rather favourable in France, and propose an overview of recent initiatives in France (political will, regulatory evolution, experimentations, investments, innovating start-ups, panel of actors). In the next part, they discuss challenges and perspectives for the French sector on the national and international markets, and propose a road-map to make leaders emerge

AbstractAbstract
[en] This magazine proposes an overview of the situation and perspectives of energy transition in French island territories: La Reunion (perspective of a possible energy self-sufficiency), Guyana (a high solar potential), Ouessant, Sein and Molene (objective of a 100 pc renewable energies system by 2030), Corsica (natural gas to improve its carbon assessment). It also comments some specific aspects of these evolutions: key role of green innovation, promising use of batteries for energy storage, development of electrical mobility (first charging station in Corsica), and use of LEDs for the reduction of the night pollution associated with public lighting

AbstractAbstract
[en] The articles address the different technological perspectives for the development of energy storage: evolutions induced by the policy of energy transition, perspectives and challenges to be faced for the storage of renewable energies, differences and complementarity between storage and cut-off, the future and limitations of energy storage with batteries, progress in solar energy storage in a chemical fluid, the development of offshore energy storage by Tesla, and commitment of the Renault-Nissan group in the energy storage sector
