AbstractAbstract
[en] The authors propose a set of technology developments relevant to the design of an optimized Cerenkov detector for the study of neutrino interactions of astrophysical interest. Emphasis is placed on signal processing innovations that enhance significantly the quality of primary data. These technical advances, combined with field experience from a follow-on test deployment, are intended to provide a basis for the engineering design for a kilometer-scale Neutrino Astrophysical Observatory

AbstractAbstract
[en] The filed of rare K decays is reviewed, with emphasis on the contribution of the currently ending round of K+ and KL0 experiments. The review begins and ends with some reflections, of uncertain value, about the nature of the field. (author)

[en] An experiment to search for K+ → π+μ+e- at LAMPF II is described. It is based on an approved BNL experiment but would be sensitive to the 10-12 level

AbstractAbstract
[en] An experiment is described that could search for the lepton-flavor violating decay for K0/sub L/ → μe with a sensitivity <10-12 at LAMPF II. The apparatus could also search for muon polarization in K0/sub L/ → μ+μ- and for the rare decay K0/sub L/ → e+e-

AbstractAbstract
[en] We report here on a search for the lepton-family-number-violating decay K+→π+μ+e-. We found no evidence for this decay mode and we establish an upper limit on its branching ratio of 1.1 x 10/sup -9/ at the 90% confidence level (C.L.) for a uniform phase-space decay distribution. We also use this result to establish an upper limit for the branching ratio of the decay π0→μ+e- of 7.8 x 10/sup -8/ (90% C.L.)
