[en] A trace factor introduced twenty years ago to incorporate internal symmetry into String Theory is generalised to include also string dynamics, while some new spectroscopic data are examined in relation to a ten year old model of exotic qq-q-barq-bar mesons. (author)

[en] Pure Yang-Mills theory is reformulated in terms of gauge-independent loop variables whose intrinsic redundancy is removed using a newly derived nonabelian generalisation of the Poincare lemma. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Various theoretical interpretations of narrow hadron states unconnected with new flavours are reviewed, with special emphasis on narrow baryoniums above the N anti N threshold which are believed to be indicative of a new phenomenon, due probably to colour, never before realized in hadron spectroscopy. AbstractAbstract
[en] A suggestion that the theory of the interacting open bosonic string be reformulated as a generalized Yang-Mills theory is further elucidated. Moreover, a serious reservation regarding the ordering of operators in the earlier ''proof'' of equivalence between the new and standard formulations is now removed

AbstractAbstract
[en] We analyse the geometry of string field theory in exactly the same way as one would analyse the geometry of Yang-Mills theory. We find that a version of non-commutative geometry, where the differential forms are considered as infinite matrices, seems to provide a suitable context for studying string field theory. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] We summarise the result of a recent investigation which shows that the standard theory of interacting open bosonic strings can be reformulated as a generalised Yang-Mills theory in which (i) the string co-ordinates themselves function as the internal gauge degrees of freedom, and (ii) parallel transport is based on the nonabelian conformal group in place of the usual space-time translation groups.
