AbstractAbstract
[en] The present study concerns with the effects of material orthotropy, curvature, shear ratio and circumferential modulus under the influence of a temperature distribution throughout the shell structure. Here analysis is restricted to the study of nonlinear vibration of a doubly curved shell structure considering the periodic response of a simple bending mode due to curtailment of pages. Solutions of the problems with suitable illustrations are also presented

AbstractAbstract
[en] The present work describes radiation-induced effects on surface microorganisms on some stored seeds widely used in India. Co-60 gamma source at 25 degree sign C emitting gamma ray at 1173 and 1332 keV energy was used for irradiating the rice (Oryza sativa. Cv-2233 and Oryza sativa. Cv-Shankar) and pulse (Cicer arietinum. Cv-local) having >10% moisture content. Dose of gamma irradiation up to 6 kGy (0.12 kGy/h) was applied for exposing the seeds. Significant depletion of the fungal population on seeds was noted with irradiation at 1-2 kGy, while complete inhibition of the contaminating fungi was observed above 4 kGy. Though the germinating potential of the treated grains did not alter significantly, loss in membrane permeability of the exposed seeds was significant

AbstractAbstract
[en] A procedure to prepare monoisotopic cesium compound targets for gamma-spectroscopic experiments is described. Using this procedure, uniform targets up to thicknesses of 0.6-1.2 mg/cm2 were prepared and used for in-beam spectroscopic studies. The purity of the target was tested by energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) measurements

Organochlorine insecticides in African agroecosystems. Report of a final research co-ordination meeting1997
Organochlorine insecticides in African agroecosystems. Report of a final research co-ordination meeting1997
AbstractAbstract
[en] The effect of lindane on non-target fauna in a maize agro-ecosystem was studied in Zambia in 1992 and 1993. While lindane was effective against the stalk borers, a target pest, it also affected other non-target fauna. Ants, spiders and springtails were significantly reduced. However the effect was only transient and lasted for approximately two months. Lindane appeared to have no real effect on aerial non-target fauna or on soil inhabiting microorganisms. [en] Copper (B) complexes of general composition Cu(L)X2 (where L=3, 9-diethyl-2,10-dimethyl-1, 4, 8, 11-tetraazacyclotetraadeca-1, 3, 8, 10-tetraene (DSLB); 2,9-diethyl-2,10-dimethyl-1, 4, 7,10-tetraaaza-5, 6, 11, 12-dibenzo tricyclo [12, 44] dodeca-1, 3, 7, 9-tetraene (DSLC); 3, 8-diethyl-2, 6, 9, 11-tetramethl-1, 4, 7, 10-tetraazacyclodorodeca-1, 3, 7, 9-tetraene (DSLD); X=Cl, NO3, 1/2 SO4) have been synthesized. The complexeshave been chatacterized on the basis of elemental analyses, molar conductance measurements, magnetic suseptibility measurements, i.r., electronic and e.p.r. studies. The complexes are found to stablize tetragonal geometry except Cu (L)SO4 which is a five coordinate square pyramidal geometry. (author)
