AbstractAbstract
[en] New data of the U-Pb dating of zircons of magmatic and metamorphic complexes of the Baikal-Patomskoe Upland are presented. More than 40 uranium-lead data were analyzed. The results obtained permit to conclude that the region has a polycyclic development. Main geochronological stages of the magmatic and metamorphic events were established. Lower Proterovic substrate age is found to be 2114+-22 millions of years. Late Kerelian (Akithan) stage (1800-1860 millions of years) are revealed as well as Early Paleo oic (556-420 millions of years) and Hercynian (340-270 millions of years). Violations in the zircon radiological systems are in the range of 473+-23 million of years. Geochronological gap (window) was found to bt in the limits of 1800-1300 millions of years

AbstractAbstract
[en] Results of spectrometric and background investigations into plastic scintillators (PS) on the basis of polystyrene and polymethylmetacrylate are presented. Analysis of the effects of reflection conditions on the PS surface on resolution is given, the proper resolution functional dependences revealed are presented. Experimental results are compared to the calculated ones, obtained using mathematical modelling methods. PS background characteristics are determined at Eγ=0.1-3.0 MeV under passive protection conditions. The presense of uranium-radium and thorium series element radionuclide background radiation in PS is shown. At Eγ>1 MeV the proper PS emission is lower than in NaI(Tl)-base detectors

AbstractAbstract
[en] The authors measured the energy resolution for a linear dependence of light yield on gamma radiation energy of gamma spectrometers based on plastic scintillation detectors for several plastic scintillators. If there were several gamma lines from the source the line with the highest energy was used to eliminate distortion due to overlap from the Compton background from gamma radiation of higher energy. Attenuation lengths were calculated. The tests were based on three modes of interaction between the gamma radiation and the scintillator: Compton scattering, the photoelectric effect, and pair formation. The contribution from light collection was also considered. The scintillators tested included polystyrene, polymethyl methacrylate, cesium iodide, and sodium iodide. Gamma sources included cesium 137, sodium 22, potassium 40, yttrium 88, thorium 232, and plutonium-beryllium
