[en] The Iskra-6 laser facility with energy up to 300 kJ in nanosecond laser pulse is planned to be created in Russia. The results of 1- and 2-dimensional simulations of a single-shell cryogenic target and a double-shell non-cryogenic target to achieve thermonuclear ignition at the Iskra-6 laser facility are discussed. The thermonuclear yield of about 0.3 MJ was obtained by the 1-dimensional ERA code simulation of double-shell non-cryogenic capsule at target absorbed energy of about 60 kJ. The hohlraum radiation temperature for the double-shell target could be about 200 eV which is much less than peak temperature of 360 eV that is required for ignition of a single-shell target at the Iskra-6 laser facility. The single-shell target is much more sensitive to radiation asymmetry and external ablator surface roughness than double-shell non-cryogenic capsule, as it follows from the 2-dimensional simulations

[en] The calculations for the target selections were carried out by the one-dimensional target program ERA, created for modeling physical processes, occurring in the targets. The energy and pulse transfer by the nonequilibrium radiation in the multigroup diffusion approximation was accounted for. The target model with the indirect effect for thermonuclear reaction ignition at the ISKRA laser facility. The thermonuclear yield of 1.7 MJ by the energy, quenched by the target, constituted about 30 KJ

[en] Experimental results on fast neutron generation in D(d,n)He3 and T(d,n)He4 reactions in the SOKOL-P laser facility are presented. Solid targets were irradiated by 1.054 μm, s- or p-polarized laser pulses of energy 5-8 J on target and duration 0.85-2 ps. The peak laser intensity was 0.5 - 2.1018 W/cm2. Flat deuterated plastic (CD2)n targets and TiDαTβ targets were used in experiments. Some experiments were carried out with additional targets placed in front of and behind the laser target. The used (TOF) time-of-flight technique helped identify neutrons from D(d,n)He3 and T(d,n)He4 reactions. Yields up to 106 DD-neutrons and 107 DT-neutrons were measured. Interaction of the fast ion beam with the target can explain the observed yield. (authors)
