AbstractAbstract
[en] A comparative survey of established meson states with the predictions of a q anti q (quarkonium) model by Godfrey and Isgur shows that most meson states are well described, from pion to Υ(6S). However, a number of states in the light- quark isoscalar sector are not predicted at all in their model, pointing to a need for glueballs, hybrids and multi-quark states to fully account for recently reported meson states. 48 refs

AbstractAbstract
[en] A description is given of the physics opportunities at RHIC regarding quark-gluon spectroscopy. The basic idea is to isolate with appropriate triggers the sub-processes pomeron + pomeron → hadrons and γ++γ+ → hadrons with the net effective mass of hadrons in the range of 1.0 to 10.0 GeV, in order to study the hadronic states composed of u, d, c, b and gluons. The double-pomeron interactions are expected to produce glueballs and hybrids preferentially, while the two-offshell-photon initial states should couple predominantly to quarkonia and multiquark states. Of particular interest is the possibility of carrying out a CP-violation study in the B decays. The KAON facility, proposed for TRIUMF, Vancouver, Canada, is an intense hadron factory with a proton flux some 25 times higher than that available at the BNL AGS with the Booster. Therefore, a general purpose hadron spectrometer will be able to tackle the problem of studying gluonic and multiquark degrees of freedom in strangeonia. 19 refs., 3 figs

AbstractAbstract
[en] A mini-review, with emphasis on new results, is given on the status of the hadroproduced E(1420)/iota(1460) meson in the decay channels eta ππ and K anti K π. The BNL data at twice the statistics of the previously published event sample show clearly a J/sup PG/ = O-+ δ (980)π state with a phase motion characteristic of a resonance. 10 refs., 6 figs

AbstractAbstract
[en] Current status of JPC = 1-+-exotic mesons is given. Recent analyses give strong support for the existence of the exotic mesons at masses 1.4 and 1.6 GeV, coupling to πη, πη', πρ and πb1(1235)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A review is presented giving a comprehensive survey of both the mathematical formalism underlying the analysis and the experimental results of the analysis as applied to 3π and Kππ systems. The purpose is not so much to give an up-to-date account of the results as to combine the survey with an exposition of relevant theoretical formulas in order to make this a reasonable self-contained review of one of the more fruitful areas of meson-resonance physics. AbstractAbstract
[en] The current status and future prospects are given of the quark-gluon spectroscopy, and a multi-year experimental program at BNL is described, consisting of experiments E771, E818 and E852, which address the question of missing quarkonia in the SU(3) family of mesons and the existence of exotic hadrons with gluonic degrees of freedom. 23 refs., 8 figs., 8 tabs

AbstractAbstract
[en] The searches for narrow baryon-antibaryon (B anti B) bound states from two recent experiments carried out at the BNL Multiparticle Spectrometer are reported. First, the results of a search for narrow states in the anti pp, Λpπ+- and anti ppπ+ systems from π-p interactions at 16 GeV/c are presented. The data come from an experiment carried out by physicists from BNL, Brandeis, CCNY, Southeastern Massachusetts, University of Massachusetts. Next, results are shown of a search for narrow anti pp states from anti pp interactions at 5 GeV/c, an experiment with collaborators from BNL, Brandeis, University of Cincinnati, Florida State University, and Southeastern Massachusetts University

AbstractAbstract
[en] Two recent experiments at the BNL Multiparticle Spectrometer searched for charm production in the π-p interactions at 16 and 17 GeV/c. One experiment looked for D*- production with a fast K+ trigger, while the other experiment triggered on single-electron events. The K+-trigger experiment finds that the D*- cross-section at 16 GeV/c is less than 130 nb at 95% confidence level
