[en] Particle production ratios for charged hadrons (π^±, K^±, p±) have been measured in π^-p interactions at 360 GeV/c using data obtained in the LEBC-EHS set up at CERN. The longitudinal and transverse dependence of these ratios has been also measured and compared with a phenomenological model based on the fragmentation hypothesis. Values of the strangeness and diquark supression factors have been derived from the experimental distributions. (Author)

[en] The non-invariant longitudinal differential inclusive cross sections for the production of π^+-, K^+-, p^+- have been measured in π^-p interactions at 360 GeV/c using data obtained in the LEBS-EHS set up at CERN. The experimental distributions have been analysed in terms of expressions derived in the context of the Quark Counting Rules. The predictions of the model do not reproduce in a systematic way the observed distributions. (Author)

[en] The performance of a small size prototype of the CMS barrel muon chamber detector has been studied in a test beam. Results on chamber efficiency, drift velocity and single wire resolution,under different experimental conditions are presented. [en] Charm data from 360 GeV/c π^- p interactions are used to give results on D-meson branching ratios. The analysis is based on 114 charm events containing 183 observed charm particle decays. We present topological branching ratios and decay multiplicities, as well as the following inclusive branching ratios of D-mesons: B(Dsup(+-)->Ksup(-+) + anything) = 0.16+-0.08, B(D⁰->Ksup(+-) + anything) = 0.44+-0.11, B(Dsup(+-)->esup(+-) + 2,4 charged hadrons) = 0.07+-0.07, B(D⁰->esup(+-) + anything) = 0.17+-0.07. [en] We have measured the inclusive production properties of D and anti D mesons produced from pp interations at √s = 27.4 GeV. The differential production cross section is well represented by the empirical form d²σdx_F/dP_T² = 1/2 [σ(D/anti D)(n+1) b](1-vertical strokex_Fvertical stroke)ⁿ exp(-bp_T²) with n = 4.9±0.5, b = (1.0±0.1) (GeV/c)^-2, and the inclusive D/anti D cross section σ(D/anti D) is (30.2±3.3) μb. The QCD fusion model predicts D/anti D production which is in good agreement with our data except for the magnitude of the cross section which depends sensitively on the assumed mass of the charm quark. [en] We present the measurements of the Λ_c production cross section in proton-proton interactions at √s = 27.4 GeV and give new limits on the exclusive branching ratio Λ_c → pK⁺π^-. (orig.)

[en] The dependence of the cross sections for the inclusive production of π^+-, K^+-, p^+- on the square of the transverse momentum has been measured in π^-p interactions at 360 GeV/c using data obtained in the LEBC-EHS set up at CERN. The experimental distributions are not reproduced by simple exponential expressions in the transverse variabl-es. The correlation between the longitudinal and transverse dependences has been measured. The results are discussed in the context of the fragmentation models. (Author)
