[en] An experimental approach to the analysis of binary alloys by the Rayleigh-Compton backscatter ratio method is presented. It is shown that the problem of establishing a definition for the Zsub(eff) value, which is valid over the entire range of atomic numbers, can be avoided. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] x-Ray fluorescence (XRF) trace quantitative analysis employing a monochromatic excitation source has been used for analysing light, non-directly analysable matrix samples, by a method based on the matrix absorption coefficients from an experimental measurement of the intensity of fixed angle Compton scatter radiation. In this work we discuss the assumptions and limits of this method and show some applications to stained glass and ceramics. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] X-ray fluorescence energy dispersive analysis is applied for the determination of Ta and W in sintering compounds. The combination of selective excitation and very simple mathematical procedures permits the determination of the concentrations of the two adjacent elements (Ta and W) even if the sample contains only few per cent of Ta. Other possible applications are shown. (author)
