AbstractAbstract
[en] In the paper it is presented the plastic scintillator type SPO-86-2 for the detection of X radiation in the energy range 5 keV - 200 keV as compared with other similar types of plastic scintillators. The advantages and drawbacks of this type of scintillator has been analyzed comparatively with the NaI(Tl) crystal scintillator. The main characteristics of the plastic scintillator SPO-86-2 and of a scintillation probe with this scintillator are performed.(author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The paper presents general considerations about tritium generation and migration, the detection of noble gases, radioactive aerosols and tritium in liquid and gaseous effluents as well as detection techniques used in the world and in Romania. The suitable techniques for performing thin plastic scintillators and the corresponding detection assemblies based on these scintillators are described. The physical characteristics and the experimental results obtained with these assemblies are presented too. A hybrid detection diagram block for light charged particles applied to heavy ion reactions is described.(author)

[en] A surface alpha contamination meter to be used in portable radiation protection instrumentation is presented. Unlike the analog contamination meter, made by different manufacturers, this radiation meter contains an analog ratemeter with four decades linear scaled. The measurements and indication characteristics of this instrument correspond to IEC Publications 650 (1979), 325 (1981) and 808 (1985). (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] This Ph.D. thesis is devoted to a study of the detection of alpha, beta, gamma, and neutron radiation. After a general introduction in this subject, done in chapter one, the second chapter is dealing with the physical principles of the interaction of radiation with matter. Then the third chapter presents a study of the organic plastic scintillators in comparison with scintillators of other types. In the fourth chapter there are presented the experimental methods of investigation of the processes of interaction and detection of nuclear radiation by means of plastic scintillation detectors. The most extensive chapter is the fifth one. It contains the original contributions of the author in manufacturing the organic plastic scintillators, the inorganic luminescent materials, and regarding his experience in working with large assemblies of scintillation detectors. Also here are reported his experimental results with operation of scintillation chambers for geological surveys and mining activities. (M.I.C) 73 Figs., 3 Tabs., 57 Refs

AbstractAbstract
[en] A method for measuring and evaluation of doses and dose equivalent rate in mixed gamma- neutron fields is discussed in this paper. The method is basedon a double detector system consist of an ionization chamber with components made from a plastic scintillator, coupled to on photomultiplier. Generally the radiation fields around accelerators are complex, often consisting of many different ionizing radiations extending over a broad range of energies. This method solve two major difficulties: determination of response functions of radiation detectors; interpretation of measurement and determination of accuracy. The discrimination gamma-fast neutrons is assured directly without a pulse shape discrimination circuit. The method is applied to mixed fields in which particle energies are situated in the energy range under 20 MeV and an izotropic emision (Φ=104-1011n.s-1). The dose equivalent rates explored is 0.01mSV--0.1SV

AbstractAbstract
[en] A hybrid detector measuring fast neutrons in mixed gamma-neutron fields is discussed in this paper. The detector consists of an ionization chamber with components made of a plastic scintillator. Its operation is based on the two detection systems, combined in this way. Its parameters and domain of applicability are explained. A rapid integral method based on this detector, for measuring the neutron-dose equivalent, which allows a good separation of the gamma component, is proposed. (Author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The pre-emission of neutrons from 11Li halo nuclei is considered. The problems of investigation of 11Li halo nucleus structure by means of the correlation function are presented. The influence of the target screening on the halo neutron pre-emission is described. It is shown that due to the diminishing of the screening effect the yield of pre-emission neutron pairs is expected to be much larger in the case of 12C than in the case of Si target

Primary Subject
