AbstractAbstract
[en] A β recoil time of flight mass spectrometer and a tape transport system have been developed and connected to an He-jet system. The radioactivity is transported through two capillaries to these two systems which are operating simultaneous under the same time cycling conditions. On the T.O.F. mass spectrometer a thick plastic scintillator and a X-γ GeLi detector allow to measure coincidences between mass and Qsub(β) mass and γ, Esub(β) and γ. On the tape transport system coincidence measurements are recorded with additional detectors between γ-γ, γ-X and Esub(β)-γ. As a first step the investigated region of nuclei has been the Nb, Zr, Y, Sr neutron deficient isotopes. The goal was first to identify the isotopes and then to deduce mass excess values from total β+ decay energy measurements. Level schemes have also been established in some cases. The method is presented and the results on the following isotopes (see table) are discussed. Table 1 presents the measured mass excess values

AbstractAbstract
[en] An electrostatic mirror has been built to achieve time focusing and high mass resolution with a new 252Cf time of flight mass spectrometer. The first results show that M/AM(50%) values are around 2500 for organic molecules. The apparatus is described and results are presented. Future applications for metastable ion studies are briefly discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper describes a coincidence method for studying metastable ion decompositions with a 252Cf time of flight mass spectrometer. An electrostatic mirror is used to reflect ions which are detected by a set of annular channel plates while neutrals resulting from ''in flight'' decompositions are counted by channel plates placed behind the mirror. Two simultaneous time of flight (T.O.F.) measurements (ions and neutrals) are recorded event by event using the same start signals. Therefore correlated reflex spectra can be obtained by setting electronically time ''windows'' on the neutral T.O.F. These windows correspond to masses which have decayed in flight. The charged fragments are then selected in the reflex spectra by this method of coincidences. In flight decays can therefore be identified. Other ionization-desorption techniques can be used as well. A few simple examples are presented

AbstractAbstract
[en] A data acquisition and processing system for time of flight mass spectrometry, based on a PC-AT computer with an additional memory card was developed, and analysis software was written. About 100,000 counts/sec can be analyzed and stored in the memory. In the coincidence mode, 1000 start events with 10 stop events (per sec) on one time digital converter allow 10 spectra to be recorded. Examples of printouts are shown

AbstractAbstract
[en] A ion mirror receives ions from a source and a detector is placed so as to receive the ions reflected by the mirror. A second detector is placed behind the ion mirror to allow especially to get at the same time a spectrum of the mirror reflected ions received by the first detector and a spectrum of neutral species eventually appearing during the flight and received by the second detector

AbstractAbstract
[en] The ''DEPIL'' time of flight mass spectrometer was set up and used in the laboratory. It was first used for radioactive isotopes produced by heavy ion reactions, then we tried other applications with the desorption-ionization method; time of flight measurements have been improved. The use of a Cf252 source is very accurate for big molecules desorption. We present here the results on proteins mass measurements

AbstractAbstract
[en] A pulsed ion gun was built for surface analysis of organic and inorganic solid layers. Secondary ion mass analysis is made by time of flight measurements. In the spectrometer, MeV ions from a Cf252 source can also be used to bombard the same targets. The principle of the apparatus is similar to the Manitoba system (Standing et al, 1982), but the Cs ion source (Ionex) and the geometrical arrangement are different. Typical measurement results from experiments using the equipment are illustrated

AbstractAbstract
[en] A shape fitting method for the determination of end point energy of positon spectra has been developed. A precision of 100 keV is generally obtained and the method can be used for spectra with low statistics. Standard spectra are recorded simultaneously and under the same experimental conditions with the unknown spectra β-mass and β-γ coincidences. Qsub(β) values have been measured for many isotopes produced on the reactions 32S+27Al and 32S+54Fe
