AbstractAbstract
[en] For dosimetric purpose, an accurate knowledge of the 237Np to 235U fission cross-section ratio is necessary. These data are also required for a systematic study of fission cross-sections. Fission cross-section ratio was determined for 237Np/235U around 14 MeV neutron energies with a back-to-back ionization chamber. Neutrons were produced by a 180 kV accelerator using the T(d, n)4He reaction. No significant energy dependence was found in the cross-section ratio. (author) 10 refs.; 3 figs.; 3 tabs

AbstractAbstract
[en] Neutron reflection method was used for the fast estimation of the neutron removal cross section in hydrogenous materials of simple composition. The accuracy of the measurement was about 8%. The method is rapid and reliable, but it is limited to hydrogenous materials with a low concentration of neutron absorbing elements. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The present paper is devoted to expand the use of neutron reflection method for the fast estimation of the removal cross section in complex materials. A quadratic dependence of the removal cross section from the neutron reflection coefficient was found. The sensitivity of the method decreases with increasing value of the neutron reflection coefficient. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] In an open neutron reflection setup there are some basic design parameters that have an important influence on the value of the sensitivity. The effects of variations of such parameters in the sensitivity (S) were calculated applying the Monte Carlo N-particle transport code system MCNP-4A. (author)
