[en] Originally, standardization was meant to improve the efficiency in manufacture and operation. Since then, the diversification of the tasks and purposes of standardization along with the increasing legal relevance of standards and other technical specifications have led to a point where the need for and the limits to standardization have to be discussed. Criteria are presented here explaining the possibilities of standardization in general as well as various procedures and types of standardization in the form of guides/specifications, standards, and ordinances/regulations. [en] The quadrupole splittings of the 4f→3d, 5f→3d and 5g→4f X-ray transitions in muonic ¹⁷⁵Lu have been measured. These states whose size is large compared to the nuclear dimensions are very much hydrogen-like. Hence the quadrupole splitting is almost exclusively determined by the nuclear spectroscopic quadrupole moment Q. The small corrections due to the finite nuclear size, dynamical nuclear excitation and nuclear polarization, vacuum polarization and the M1 and E4 hyperfine interactions are investigated in detail. The ground-state quadrupole moment of ¹⁷⁵Lu is determined to be Q=+3.49+-0.02 b. The prediction of the rigid rotor model is tested by combining Q with recently measured B(E2) values. From the h.f.s. of the 3dsub(5/2) state the hexadecapole moment of ¹⁷⁵Lu is estimated to be PI approximately 0+-0.02 b². The quadrupole structure of the 3d→2p and 2p→1s transitions have also been measured. By the method described, precise spectroscopic quadrupole moments from muonic atoms can be obtained. (Auth.)

[en] The strong-interaction monopole energy shift epsilon₀ and width GAMMA₀, and the quadrupole splitting of the 4f level in pionic ¹⁷⁵Lu and ¹⁶⁵Ho have been measured. The monopole shift in the case of lutecium deviates from the value obtained with a standard optical potential description of the pion-nucleus interaction. (Auth.)

[en] In X-ray spectra of pionic atoms of ¹⁶⁵Ho and ¹⁷⁵Lu the authors observed nuclear γ-rays of Dy and Yb isotopes, respectively, arising from the pion capture reactions ¹⁶⁵Ho(π^-,xn)sup(165-x)Dy* and ¹⁷⁵Lu(π^-,xn)sup(175-x)Yb* where x = 1,3,5,7,9,11. (Auth.)

[en] The Time Projection Chamber (TPC) at TRIUMF was developed for the search for muon-electron conversion, a lepton number violating process. This paper describes the data acquisition system in use for the last two years. Basic components of the system are a multi-crate CAMAC acquisition system, external memory, PDP 11/40 and VAX 11/780 coupled through DECNET. A discussion of the various software packages for datataking and on-line track reconstruction follows
