AbstractAbstract
[en] The proton-rich nuclei in the region 22 ≤ Z ≤ 28 and TZ ≤ -3/2 have been studied in detail between 1999 and 2002 in 3 experiments performed at GANIL: 23 isotopes were studied from Ti39 to Ni53. For the first time, we have measured the half-live of V43, Ni51 and Co51 - we got respectively T1/2 = (81.3 ± 5.1) ms, (24.1 ± 0.8) ms and (69.4 ± 2.7) ms - and improved the accuracy for many other nuclei. New excited levels and γ transitions were identified via β-p-γ or β-γ correlations in different nuclei in this mass region and allowed us to establish partial decay schemes for different isotopes. The experimental results have been compared with different model predictions for β-decay half-lives and the branching ratios to the isobaric states yielding thus a wealth of new nuclear structure information far from stability

AbstractAbstract
[en] Between the advanced research tools like MNCPX and the simplified approach based on linear attenuation method, this new software called RayXpert, compatible with Windows, proposes a graphical user interface able first to realize and import complex 3D geometry and secondly to perform a full Monte Carlo calculation to simulate the transport of photons and secondary particles. As RayXpert uses a a standard database: NIST for materials and EAF 2010 for radioactive elements, the user can quickly set the properties of each element of the system such as material (mass density, mass ratio of each element) or radio-nuclide composition and activity. The particle tracking in the 3D structure is calculated with the Monte Carlo method. The optimization of the Monte Carlo computational time is done in 2 ways: first for the particle tracking algorithm (using k-D tree structure for e.g.) and secondly in the physical processes simulation where several options can be activated: TTB (Thick Target Bremsstrahlung) approximation or Automatic biasing. RayXpert makes all the preprocessing tasks (modeling, material settings,...) faster using predefined tables and push button features

AbstractAbstract
[en] In a series of experiments at the SISSI/LISE3 facility of GANIL conducted between 1999 and 2004, we have collected decay information for proton-rich nuclei between 36Ca and 56Zn. The data allowed us to study the decay properties of 26 nuclei. The main experimental information obtained for all nuclei is their β-decay half-life and their total β-delayed proton emission branching ratio. For many nuclei, individual proton groups and γ rays were identified and allowed us to establish first partial decay schemes for some of the nuclei studied. In addition, mass-excess values have been determined for some of the nuclei by means of the isobaric multiplet mass equation. For 50Ni, the decay via β-delayed two-proton emission could be tentatively identified. The decay of 49Ni allowed for the first time to identify the first 2+ state in 48Fe. The experimental data are confronted to model predictions for the half-life and the mass-excess values

AbstractAbstract
[en] In an experiment performed at the Accelerator Laboratory of the University of Jyvaeskylae, the β-decay half-life of 62Ga has been studied with high precision using the IGISOL technique. A half-life of T1/2=116.09(17) ms was measured. Using β-γ coincidences, the γ intensity of the 954 keV transition and an upper limit of the β-decay feeding of the 0+2 state have been extracted. The present experimental results are compared to previous measurements and their impact on our understanding of the weak interaction is discussed. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Proton-rich isotopes of zinc and germanium, 57Zn and 61Ge, have been produced by fragmentation of a 70Ge beam at the LISE3 facility of GANIL. Their main decay characteristics have been studied after implantation in a double-sided silicon strip detector. In addition, the production cross-sections of proton-rich isotopes in the copper-to-germanium region have been determined. These cross-sections are much lower than predicted by the EPAX formula. These findings question to some extent the production rates expected for present and future fragmentation facilities. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] After the recent discovery of two-proton radioactivity, an important effort has been made in order to observe each emitted particle individually. Such kind of studies may result in energy and angular correlation measurements of the protons, which are required to give a precise theoretical description of this exotic decay mode. In this frame, we performed an experiment at the GANIL/SISSI/LISE3 facility, where we used a Time Projection Chamber to observe tracks of protons in the decay of 45Fe, produced in projectile fragmentation reactions

AbstractAbstract
[en] The neutron-deficient isotope 189Bi has been studied at the University of Jyvaeskylae using alpha-decay, isomer and prompt gamma-ray spectroscopy. The structure of 189Bi can be understood by the coupling of an unpaired proton to the 188Pb core, in which spherical, prolate, and oblate shapes were found to coexist. Improved data on alpha-decay and prompt gamma-ray spectroscopy have been obtained, giving further insight into the shape coexistence phenomenon in the neutron-deficient lead region

AbstractAbstract
[en] Studies of β-delayed emission of protons for 43Cr and 51Ni were performed with a Time Projection Chamber. This detection setup allows to reconstruct in the three-dimensional space the tracks of the protons emitted. For the first time, β-delayed emission of two protons is directly observed for 43Cr and 51Ni. The question about correlations between protons can be accessed. Finally, we show that 43Cr can emit up to three delayed protons.

AbstractAbstract
[en] In the present paper, we present measurements that led to the discovery of two-proton radioactivity. After the first observation of this decay mode for 45Fe, new measurements evidenced this decay mode also for 54Zn and most likely 48Ni. A new detector based on the time-projection chamber principle allowed now to visualize the two protons directly
