AbstractAbstract
[en] The inlet window of the detecting device with a semiconductor detector is made from a foil of an organic polymer. The window covers the entrance opening through which the ionizing radiation passes, and protects the detecting device against outer effects. Such an inlet window is superior to a beryllium window with respect to mechanical properties. Since the window is nontoxic, it is easier to handle, and its ionizing radiation absorption is lower, owing to which elements with atomic numbers Z < 11 can also be detected by electron microscopy. AbstractAbstract
[en] The sensitometric and microsensitometric characteristics and physico-chemical properties were measured for the Czechoslovak technical X-ray films FOMA INDUX R4 and INDUX R7, and the films were evaluated with respect to Czechoslovak and ISO standards and to the DIN 54 111 standard. The properties were compared with those of the corresponding Kodak, Du Pont and Agfa-Gevaert films. In their testing and certifying, the INDUX materials exhibited a sufficient reserve for satisfying the image quality as per the G II or G III classes. (B.S.). 4 tabs

AbstractAbstract
[en] Changes were studied in the myocardium of laboratory animals after gamma irradiation with 6 Gy. In the light microscope, well outlined foci of myocytes with distrophic alterations, edema of the myocardial stroma, and multiple focal hemorrhages were observed. The glycogen content in myocytes was reduced. The ultrastructural picture was dominated by an enlargement to disintegration of mitochondria and focal splitting of myofibrils in the myocytes. Capillary endothelia mostly showed signs of hydropic swelling. The changes in the nucleoplasmic ratios of myocardial myocytes, in the size of myocyte nuclei, and the size of the relative volumes of the basic myocardial components, i.e. of myocytes and the interstitium, were assessed quantitatively. AbstractAbstract
[en] Partition coefficients of uranium between phenocrysts and their host groundmass have been determined by fission-track mapping. The minerals analyzed include plagioclase, K-feldspar, biotite, olivine, clinopyroxene and orthopyroxene. The data for all these minerals show that U is strongly partitioned into the liquid and only a small fraction of the total whole-rock U content is present in the major rock-forming minerals. In volcanic rocks, the bulk of U is usually contained in glass although in acid volcanic rocks a significant portion may also be present in the U-rich accessory minerals

AbstractAbstract
[en] The paper deals with the development of a qualified monitor PIM-01E, testing and certification. The monitor has been designed and developed to meet the environmental conditions for placement at the block and emergency control room at the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant. Monitor monitors the volume activity of radioactive aerosols and iodines in the air under normal and abnormal traffic, project and over project accidents. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Experimental samples were made from the heat affected zone of the overlay with an austenitic strip on a low alloy CrMoV steel. The cavity mechanisms of sample damage in a tensile strength tests shows that the sample underclad crack was caused by annealing. No symptoms of liquation or other damage were found using crack detection. The tests did not exclude the possibility that the liquation mechanism had some effect on crack formation; this could not be verified due to high level oxidation. Tests using double thermal cycles of CrMoV and CrNiMo(V) steels led to the conclusion that the localization of underclad cracks in the area affected by overheating caused by the welding on of the neighbouring bead, aither had no connection with structural changes and was caused by mechanical stress factors or that the used testing methods did not adequately reflect thermally activated effects in the area of the boundaries of what used to be austenitic grains. CrMoV and CrNiMo(V) steel melts were classified using the method of austenitic blocks. The results show that the susceptibility to the occurrence of underclad cracks depends on individual melts. AbstractAbstract
[en] The distribution of U in volcanic rocks from two transects across the Central Andes (latitudes 27deg-28degS and 16 deg-18degS, respectively) differs from that of K. For a given SiO2 content of the rocks, K systematically increases with the distance from the trench, while the highest U abundances are found in the rocks overlying the thickest segments of the continental crust, which are situated in the middle parts of the transects. It is suggested that this variation of U reflects crustal contamination
