[en] This article is a review of safeguards efforts in several large plutonium reprocessing facilities. Recent/current European reprocessing efforts are noted. The international forum LASCAR concluded that such facilities could be effectively safeguarded through the use of a wide range of techniques that are presently available or are soon to be available. The approach is based typically on near-real-time accountability at THORP and continuous process monitoring in the French plants
