AbstractAbstract
[en] The wicked ascites understands 10% of the cases of ascites and it is usually caused by intra-abdominal tumors, being a manifestation of advanced wicked illness and being associated with a poor prediction. In general the ascites is defined like the abnormal accumulation of liquid in the peritoneal cavity that is of a misbalance among the production, the replacement and the absorption of the peritoneal liquid. This due to an imbalance among the pressure colloid osmotic of the plasma, the veined pressure, the circulatory and lymphatic volume, the same as to alterations in the renal expression of sodium and of water or for alteration in the permeability of the capillary sub peritoneal. The Ascites can to intervene seriously in the breathing function and with the foods ingestion, worsening in dramatic form the general state of the patients

AbstractAbstract
[en] A computer program written with the purpose of studying the magnetic field produced by a linear system of n coils is shown. Based on this a four coils system is designed that was used in an ion source of Resonance Electron-cyclotron type (REC) that is sought to build. In turn, structure characteristics of the magnetic field proper for such purpose are discussed. (Author)

[en] The paper is about of the fractures for extraction of the anterior tibial tuberosity, those which relatively frequent and they are generally presented in patients that carry out sport activities and in most of the cases they have association with the Syndrome of Osgood Schlatter; three cases are presented of patient with fractures with extraction of the anterior tibial tuberosity in immature skeleton, their treatment and their definitive result

AbstractAbstract
[en] A purely instrumental neutron activation analysis method, using high resolution gamma-ray spectrometry with intrinsic Ge and Ge(Li) detectors, has been used for the analysis of trace elements in copper concentrate samples. Seven rare earth elements and eight other trace elements (Co, Zn, Se, Sb, La, Ce, Nd, Sm, Eu, Tb, Yb, Hf, Re, Th, U) were determined with good precision. Standard rocks were also analyzed to check the analytical procedure, and the results obtained are in good agreement with literature values. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The recent growth of intensive dairy farming implies the industrialization of dairy farms, improving production efficiencies. However, the rise in the number of cows has led to large quantities of dairy manure, which can not be properly managed by farmers, giving place to environmental damages. There is also a concern regarding green house gases (GHG) emissions. Livestock industry is the largest source of green house gases methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O) in the primary sector in Europe. (Author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A standard method for the production of gallium-67 has been investigated for the co-production of copper-64 and copper-67. A target composed of zinc-68 metal plated onto a copper surface is subjected to proton irradiation in a cyclotron. The amounts of the two copper isotopes have been quantitated for a typical production run

AbstractAbstract
[en] The Report summarizes a year and a half research on the social perception and expectations regarding the possible siting of ITER in Vandellos carried out in the framework of the European ITER Site Studies (EISS). The aims were to examine the needs and preferences in terms of public information and communication; to explore the risks and benefits the community links to the Centre; and to analyse the local expectations concerning public participation. A methodological strategy integrating qualitative methodologies [semi-structured interviews to key informants at the local level, and to key research groups in the surrounding area, together with a focus group with local opinion leaders], and quantitative techniques [Computer Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI) applied to a sample of 400 participants] was implemented. The local community has lived with complex and high risk facilities for decades, thus local people has a strong familiarity with technological and energy production systems, but no experience with large research installations. In such a context the global opinion towards the possibility of hosting ITER was clearly favourable, and linked to a strong demand in terms of public information and participation. (Author) 19 refs

AbstractAbstract
[en] In an ongoing effort to improve various aspects of Ga-67 production, we have reinvestigated the extraction of Ga-67 from targets of Zn-68 plated on copper and irradiated with 26.5 MeV protons. The first step in the chemical processing involves the dissolution of the irradiated Zn-68 in 7N HCL. Normally, three etches with the acid are performed and these are usually considered sufficient to remove most of the Ga-67 since additional etches do not remove significant activity. However, we have found that once the acid etches are complete, large amounts of Ga-67 can be removed from the target by washing the target with water. For example, in a typical production run, as much as 10% of the total Ga-67 actually produced was removed in two water washes. Details of the investigation will be presented and implications related to Ga-67 production will be discussed
