AbstractAbstract
[en] The situation of electromagnetic calorimeters using wire chambers or wire tubes is reviewed, and the specific properties of these gaseous calorimeters are described. In particular, the performance with respect to energy and spatial resolution is discussed. Recent developments gave remarkable improvements which make wire chamber calorimeter a promising choice for future application, especially for large scale detectors. (orig.)

Es wird ein Ueberblick ueber die Situation elektromagnetischer Kalorimeter gegeben, die Drahtkammern oder Drahtroehren verwenden und die speziellen Eigenschaften dieser Gaskalorimeter werden beschrieben. Insbesondere werden Energie- und Ortsaufloesung diskutiert. Juengste Entwicklungen ergaben bemerkenswerte Verbesserungen, die Kalorimeter mit Drahtkammern in zukuenftigen Anwendungen sehr vielversprechend erscheinen lassen, insbesondere bei modernen Grossdetektoren der Teilchenphysik. AbstractAbstract
[en] Performance tests of a first calorimeter module using the room temperature liquid tetramethylsilane (TMS) as active element are described. Normal carbon steel has been used as absorber. The charge yield is 70% of that in a very pure sample of the liquid. A long term stability of the signal with a lifetime of half a year has been realized. (orig.)

Es werden Ergebnisse ueber den Betrieb eines ersten Kalorimeters gegeben, das die Fluessigkeit Tetramethylsilan (TMS) als aktives Element benutzt. Als Absorber wurde normaler Kohlenstoffstahl verwendet. Die Ladungsausbeute betrug 70% derjenigen der in einer sehr reinen Probe der Fluessigkeit erhaltenen Ausbeute. Als Langzeitstabilitaet wurde eine Lebensdauer des Signals von einem halben Jahr gemessen. (orig.)Source
