AbstractAbstract
[en] Sustained efforts are made to improve the Nuclear Power Standard System in China for supporting current and future development of nuclear power programs. However, building a nuclear power standard system is a comprehensive project involving many subjects related to technology or administration. This paper demonstrates an approach to China nuclear power standard system. Due to the government strategy that PWR has been being the main stream of nuclear program in China, the paper focuses on the part of the standard system applicable to PWRs, and a methodology based on standard demand analysis is developed to fulfill the so called “five attributes” of system, which has been applied in the National Science and Technology Major Project (NSTMP), “Research on Developing China Advanced Nuclear Power Standard System”. AbstractAbstract
[en] Because of "3He shortage, scintillator is a promising alternative choice for neutron detection in the field of thermal neutron scattering and imaging. Also, the neutron detection efficiency is difficult to be determined. In this paper, the efficiency for thermal neutron detection is presented by inorganic scintillator using probability principles, supposed that the material of scintillator is uniform in element distribution, and that attenuation length of scintillation light is longer than that of its thickness in the scintillator. The efficiencies for two pieces of lithium glass are determined by this method, indicating the method is useful for determining efficiency of thermal neutron detections. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Linear alkyl benzene(LAB) has many advantages of appreciable light yield, relatively long light attenuation length and environment friendly, etc. It is selected as the LS solvent in the Daya Bay Reactor Neutrino Experiment. To make sure that LAB can meet the experimental requirements on light attenuation length in the 350-450 nm wavelength rang, we developed an improved system to measure, in a faster and more accurate way, light attenuation length of the LAB liquid samples. LAB samples before and after purification by filtration with β-Al2O3 and silica gel powders were measured, and composition analyses of the LAB samples were performed. In the experiments we found the chemical impurities that reduced the light attenuation length of the LAB product, and based on the findings the producer optimized the production process to reduce the impurity concentration. The LAB product is qualified for its application in the Daya Bay Reactor Neutrino Experiment. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Based on a VME DAQ system in WinXP environment, the characteristic of Photomultiplier Tubes (PMTs), which will be used in the T0 system of the beam test experiment for MRPC, were carefully measured. The high voltage of PMT was confirmed by study of its single photoelectron spectrum, from which the performance of PMT (such as energy resolution of the charge spectrum, Peak to valley and gain) could be acquired. At last, by distributing the data with different number of photon, which depend on the charge distribution, the time resolution of T0 was improved. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] LiYSiO4:Ce is a promising scintillator and some of its properties have been reported in previous papers. In this paper, samples doped with different concentrations of Ce are prepared and studied. First, the relative light yields of the samples are measured as 28.1%-37.1% compared with a standard anthracene crystal being irradiated by α particles and as ∼27.2% compared with Nal being irradiated by X-rays. Second, the effects of sample thicknesses on light yields are presented. Finally the timing behaviors of samples with different doped concentrations being irradiated with alpha particles and X-rays are discussed. The result shows that LiYSiO4:Ce is a kind of fast scintillator (∼ 30 ns) with a moderate light yield that can be used for neutron detection. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The endcap of time-of-flight (ETOF) detector in BES (Beijing Spectrometer) Ⅲ is planned to be upgraded by using multi-gap resistive plate chambers (MRPCs) and the designed time resolution of the MRPCs is around 50 ps. Thus a time-zero (T0) detector needs to be built to offer a high quality reference time for the MRPCs beam test. So a T0 detector is built using plastic scintillator tiles (BC420) to couple with four fast phototubes (PMTs, Hamamatsu H6533). The timing properties of the detector is studied by using a cosmic ray test and factors related to the time resolution, such as plastic scintillator size, readout mode and angle effects, are discussed. T0 detector timing resolutions of ∼ 41-62 ps are achieved, which means that the T0 detector can be used in the MRPC beam test. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A position-sensitive detector is designed for neutron detection. It uses a single continuous screen of a self-made lithium glass scintillator, rather than discrete crystal implementations, coupling with a multi- anode PMT (MaPMT). The scintillator is fast and efficient; with a decay time of 34 ns and thermal neutron detection efficiency of around 95.8% for the 3 mm thick screen, and its light yield is around 5670 photons per neutron and 3768 photons per MeV γ rays deposition. The spatial resolution is around 1.6 mm (FWHM) with the energy resolution around 34.7% by using(Y (5.2 MeV) rays test. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The compilation and encapsulation of a general data acquisition system based on VME board in WinXP environment was developed using LabVIEW with graphics interface. By integrating the emulational instrument panel of LabVIEW and calling the Dynamic Link Libraries (DLLs) of crate controller, the VME modules were encapsulated into function modules independently, for convenience of use. The BLT, MBLT and CBLT readout modes for different VME boards were studied. The modules can be selected and modified easily according to the requirements of different tests. Finally, successful applications of the high resolution data acquisition software (DAQ) in several experiment environments are reported.(authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A test system is developed for the BESIII ETOF/MRPC beam tests of data acquisition, environment monitoring and automatic control. The software framework is based on the CAMAC bus, VME bus and Serial Port, which are responsible for communications with the detectors. The monitor system works well in the beam test. (authors)
