AbstractAbstract
[en] Spring 2004 has seen the first experiments performed with the CLARA-PRISMA setup installed at LNL (Legnaro). The setup consists of CLARA, an array of 25 Clover (EUROBALL type) Ge detectors, placed at the target position of the large acceptance PRISMA magnetic spectrometer. The setup is an excellent tool to investigate the structure of neutron-rich nuclei, populated in multinucleon transfer reactions and deep inelastic collisions with stable beams. PRISMA allows the identification of the reaction products opening the possibility to go further away from stability in comparison with previous experimental activities using the aforementioned reactions. The setup has been commissioned in the first three months of the year and since March is fully operational. Five experiments had been performed, with beams delivered by the LNL tandem and the ALPI linac. In this contribution the main features of the setup as well as the preliminary outcome of the first experiments will be described. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The high-spin investigation of 52Fe (N=Z=26) presents a particular difficulty due to the presence of a 12+ isomer, with T1/2=45.9(6) s which acts as a ''trap'' for the de-exciting γ-ray flux. In this contribution we present results from our investigations on the γ and β decays of the 12+ isomer performed at the GSI on-line mass separator. The excitation energy and precise γ-de-excitation branching ratios per parent decay have been established and are compared with the large-scale shell-model calculations performed with the KB3G and FPD6 interactions. AbstractAbstract
[en] The Clara-Prisma setup is a powerful tool for spectroscopic studies of neutron-rich nuclei produced in multi-nucleon transfer and deep-inelastic reactions. It combines the large acceptance spectrometer Prisma with the γ-ray array Clara. Currently at Lnl is being constructed the heavy-ion detector Dante, based on Micro-Channel Plates, that will be installed at the Clara-Prisma setup. Dante will open the possibility of measuring γ-γ Doppler-corrected coincidences for the events outside the acceptance of Prisma. In this manuscript some results obtained with the Clara-Prisma setup will be discussed, in addition to the description and performance of the first prototype for the heavy-ion detector Dante. AbstractAbstract
[en] The electromagnetic decay properties of high spin states in 52Mn have been carried out with the GASP and EUROBALL arrays combined with the charged-particle detector ISIS and the Neutron-Wall. From the coincidence measurements in these experiments new high spin states were placed in the 52Mn level scheme. In a recent experiment performed at the on-line mass separator at GSI, the decay properties of the 12+ yrast trap in 52Fe have been investigated. Two E4 gamma branches to the 8+ states in 52Fe have been observed for the first time and the beta decay into high spin states in 52Mn has been revisited. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The coupling of big Ge-arrays like EUROBALL or GASP with ancillary detectors for the study of the structure properties of very exotic nuclei, far from the stability valley, has given outstanding results in the last years. A large fraction of the experiments performed with the both arrays has been devoted to study both proton-rich and neutron-rich nuclei populated using stable beams provided by the LNL Legnaro and IReS Strasbourg accelerators. Nuclei lying close to the N=Z line are of particular interest being a laboratory where collective excitations as well as fundamental properties of the nuclear force can be tested, like isospin symmetry and isospin breaking terms, proton neutron pairing, drip line effects and coherent neutron and proton contributions to the nuclear excitations. Some of this properties are more evident (degree of isospin mixing) or can be only observed (collective effects) in heavy N=Z nuclei. In this contribution we present the experimental results obtained by our collaboration along and in the vicinity of N=Z line. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The usefulness of a simple numerical correction method of electronic pulse pileup distortion in measured energy spectra is investigated. The algorithm only requires the knowledge of the true pulse shape. The accuracy of the correction achieved for total absorption gamma-ray spectroscopy measurements with NaI(Tl) detectors is demonstrated
