AbstractAbstract
[en] A method for the production of fluorine-18 in a research reactor, from irradiated lithium carbonate, is described. Fluorine-18 is separated from impurities in a alumina column, which is an appropriate procedure for its production as a carrier-free radioisotope for oral administration. Characteristics of the product, when fluorine is separated from irradiated target in an usual alumina column, are compared with those when fluorine is separated in a previously calcined(10000C) alumina column: Yields of chemical separation and chemical forms of radioisotope obtained are studied. Fluorine elution is investigated for several eluant concentrations and the use of a lower concentrated eluant is emphasized. Purity degree of fluorine-18 solutions separated. A routine production procedure is determined by irradiating enriched lithium carbonate (95% 6Li). Theoretical yields are compared with fluorine-18 production yields obtained in several irradiations

Descrevem-se os aspectos relativos a producao do fluor-18 em reator de pesquisa; a partir de carbonato de litio. Estuda-se a separacao do fluor-18 em coluna de alumina, que e um metodo simples e eficiente para a obtencao deste radioisotopo livre de carregador para uso oral. Verificam-se as caracteristicas do produto obtidg$ separando-se o fluor em coluna de alumina tratada pelo metodo convencional, a frio. Comparam-se essas caracteristicas com aquelas do fluor separado em coluna de alumina calcinada a 10000C. Estudam-se os rendimentos do processo de separacao e as formas quimicas do radioisotopo produzido. Determinam-se as condicoes de eluicao do fluor-18, usando-se eluente em diferentes concentracoes e destaca-se a vantagem de se usar aluente mais diluido. Mostram-se os teores de pureza do produto obtido quando se separa o fluor-18 em coluna de alumina previamente calcinada. Determina-se uma rotina de producao a partir do carbonato de litio enriquecido no isotopo 6Li e calculam-se as quantidades teoricas produzidas que sao comparadas com os valores experimentaisOriginal Title

[en] The preparation of 99 sup(m) Tc generator using calcinated (10000C) alumina as adsorber for 99Mo is described. The adsorption of 99Mo and the elution of 99 sup(m) Tc were studied. When the generator is autoclaved (30 minutes, 1210C), after the loading of 99Mo, elution yields of 99 sup(m) Tc fall to the half if compared whith generators not autoclaved. However, by autoclaving 99Mo loading solution and alumina column separately and than preparing the generator, 80% elution yields of 99 sup(m) Tc were obtained. The contamination of the generator by microorganism is avoided when the loading of the 99Mo is carried out in a hot-cell under UV ligth. The radioactive, radiochemical, chemical and microbiological purity criteria were examined for 99 sup(m) Tc solutions. The generator is considered safe for medical purposes. (Author)

Estudou-se a preparacao de um gerador de 99 sup(m) Tc, usando-se alumina calcinada a 10000C como adsorvente do radioisotopo pai 99Mo. Estabeleceram-se as condicoes de fixacao do 99Mo na coluna de alumina e as de eluicao do 99 sup(m) Tc. Verificou-se que, quando o gerador e autoclavado por 30 minutos a 1210C, apos a fixacao do 99Mo, os rendimentos de eluicao do 99 sup(m) Tc caem a metade dos de um gerador nao autoclavado nas mesmas condicoes. Entretanto, se o gerador for preparado a partir de coluna de alumina e de solucao de 99Mo autoclavados separadamente, os rendimentos de eluicao do 99 sup(m) Tc sao de ordem de 80% semelhantes aos dos geradores comerciais. A fim de se evitar contaminacao bacteriana do gerador na fase de fixacao do 99Mo, esta operacao foi realizada em celula blindada sob luz ultravioleta. As solucoes de 99 sup(m) Tc, foram examinadas quanto aos criterios de pureza radioativa, radioquimica, quimica e microbiologica. AbstractAbstract
[en] Samarium-153-ethylenediaminetetramethylenephosphonate (153Sm-EDTMP) has been used to palliate pain resulting from bone cancer. This paper describes the preparation of 153SmCl3 from irradiated natural samarium and the ability of 153Sm to complex with EDTMP in liquid and in freeze-dried forms. The evaluation of radiolabeled EDTMP was done by paper chromatography. A rapid evaluation of free 153SmCl3 and 153Sm-EDTMP was developed using a miniaturized chromatographic system. [en] The improvements performed on the routine production of sup(99m) Tc-generators at the Instituto de Pesquisas Energeticas e Nucleares-CNEN/SP, are described. The old model generators (manual elution of sup(99m) Tc) were substituted by automatically eluted generators (Vacuum system). The alumina column, elution system and acessories were modified; the elution time was reduced from 60 to 20-30 seconds. The new generators give 80-90% elution yields using six mililiters of sodium chloride 0,9% as sup(99m) Tc eluant instead of the 10 mililiters necessary to eluate the old generators. So, the radioactive concentrations are now 70% higher. The radioactive, radiochemical, chemical and microbiological criteria were examinated for sup(99m) Tc solutions. Like old generators, automatic generators were considered safe for medical purpose. (Author)

Mostram-se os aperfeicoamentos realizados nos geradores de sup(99m) Tc produzidos no IPEN-CNEN/SP, originalmente de operacao manual, a fim de possilibitar a producao de geradores com eluicao automatica do sup(99m) Tc. Foram modificados: a coluna de alumina, o sistema de eluicao e os acessorios de eluicao (frascos e agulhas). Essas modificacoes permitiram reduzir o tempo de eluicao, anteriormente de 60 segundos, para cerca de 20 a 30 segundos. Nos geradores atuais sao obtidos rendimentos de eluicao de 80 a 90%, usando-se apenas 6 mililitros de solucao de cloreto de sodio 0,9% como eluente do tecnecio. Assim, as concentracoes radioativas das solucoes de 99mTc aumentaram cerca de 70%, pois nos antigos geradores, eram necessarios 10 mililitros para a eluicao. Em relacao aos criterios de pureza radioativa, radioquimica, quimica e microbiologica, as solucoes de sup(99m) Tc obtidas com os novos geradores, tambem atendem as especificacoes para uso em Medicina Nuclear. AbstractAbstract
[en] 153Sm-EDTMP has been widely used to palliate pain resulting from metastatic bone cancer. Its radiochemical purity is normally determined by ion exchange, paper chromatography and thin layer chromatography. Paper chromatography showed to be a rapid and reliable method, when used for the complex obtained in high ligand concentrations. However, when the complex was prepared in low ligand concentrations, the results presented significant differences from those obtained by ion exchange and thin layer chromatography. A comparative study on 153Sm-EDTMP radiochemical purity determinations is presented, using these three methods to evaluate the complex obtained in high and low ligand concentrations. (author)
