AbstractAbstract
[en] Influence of microstructure on mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of 18Cr-10Ni-Ti austenitic stainless steel products with different chemical composition, after solution annealing at 1050 oC has been examined. It has been revealed that TiC carbides precipitated inside austenite grains and at grain/twin boundaries result in remarkable decrease of steel elongation. The grain/twin boundary TiC carbides reduce resistance to intergranular corrosion and promote corrosion impairments on the surface of the products during pickling operations after the heat treatment. AbstractAbstract
[en] The reasons of failure of a steam turbine blade made of Polish steel 23H12MNF (DIN X22Cr11MoV121), exploited 20000 h at temperature 350 oC were considered. Study on: chemical composition, mechanical properties, microstructure with the use of optical microscope, and scanning electron microscope (SEM) with microanalyser (EDS) have shown, that the reason of fatigue fracture were macro- and microsegregation, presence of δ ferrite, untempered martensite and intermetallic phases (probably σ phase). AbstractAbstract
[en] Influence of manufacturing process and heat treatment on microstructure and mechanical properties of 12% Cr heat resistance martensitic steels has been discussed. These steels are used for elevated temperatures applications like: heat and power plants, chemical and petrochemical installations. Some cases of manufacturing mistakes of steam pipelines and turbine blades had been presented. These mistakes led to imperfect microstructure resulting in reduced lifetime and insufficient reliability of installations. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Studies with L-ascorbic acid as biological complexing agent were performed to investigate its influence on the uptake and retention of the radionuclide of ytterbium in animals. The results indicate that the retention of 169Yb in the investigated organs of mice is affected when 169YbCl3 is administered simultaneously with L-ascorbic acid. L-ascorbic acid has little or no effect on the 169Yb excretion when it is injected prior or succeeding to the administration of 169YbCl3. (author) 7 refs.; 3 tabs

AbstractAbstract
[en] The incorporation of Se and Te into liver, kidneys, heart, spleen, lungs and small intestine after i.p. injections of Balby mice with seleno-cystine (CySe)2 and Na2TeO3 in the presence of Cd (as CdCl2), As (as As2O3) and Zn (as ZnSO4) was studied. The changes of Co, Fe, Rb and Hg contents were determined in all investigated organs after injections with the above compounds. Instrumental neutron activation analysis was applied as the analytical method. A competitive interaction was found between As and Se or Te, and between Se and Cd. The data obtained suggest that Cd has a higher competitive ability to displace Te than Zn and Se. Injection with the above compounds affects the contents of Fe, Co, Rb and Hg in all mice organs. AbstractAbstract
[en] Results of magneto-acoustic emission (MAE) measurements for 10H2M steel after service at power plant and as-received stage are presented. Creep damage stage was evaluated from microstructure and mechanical properties (hardness HV, yield strength R0.2 and ultimate tensile strength Rm). It was revealed that MAE intensity decreases monotonically with creep damage stage degree and that relative change of MAE intensity is much higher than change of any other mechanical parameter. Such result reveals that MAE is very useful for evaluation of quality of ferrous steel. (author)
