AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper outlines the need to expand and improve public participation in decision-making on energy. In an advanced society like ours you can not continue using the same tools they used a century ago. Provide and transmit by the scientific community to society, information science and technology in an appropriate language that comes to them, giving them opportunities and enabling them to participate objectively in this decision making. There must be a legitimate, honest, sincere and plural debate where the participation of all the actors involved and from all strata of society. (Author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Recently, thanks to advances made in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), techniques have been developed for the construction of models that predict the spatial distribution of species and other attributes of biodiversity. These methods have allowed for the development of objective criteria that are fundamental for making decisions regarding the creation of protected areas systems throughout the world. In this research, the spatial distribution of ten endangered species of birds found within the jurisdiction of CORANTIOQUIA (JDC from here on) was modelled, using GIS techniques. The JDC was divided into 177 squares of 15 x 10 Km and the following variables were quantified within each one: presence or absence of endangered species of birds, rainfall, temperature, sun brightness, relative humidity, day duration, altitude, vegetal cover, slope and primary net productivity. With the help of logistic regression were made predictive models. Based on logistic regressions techniques predictive models were made. These models allow to explain a percentage between 24% and 80% of spatial distribution variability of these species. Those results can help in the identification of valuable zones for the biodiversity conservation. In places where there are neither the time or the economic resources to carry out exhaustive analyses of biodiversity, the models can predict the probable presence of this endangered species

AbstractAbstract
[en] Niobium and vanadium precipitates (nitrides and carbides) can inhibit the static recrystallization of austenite but this does not happen for Ti, which form nitrides at high temperatures. RPTT diagrams show the interaction between recrystallization and precipitation allowing study the strain induced precipitation kinetics and precipitate coarsening. Based on Dutta and Sellars expression for the start of strain-induced precipitation in microalloyed steels, a new model has been constructed which takes into account the influence of variables such as microalloying element percentages, strain, temperature, strain rate and grain size. Recrystallization- Precipitation-Time-Temperature (RPTT) diagrams have been plotted thanks to a new experimental study carried out by means of hot torsion tests on approximately twenty microalloyed steels with different Nb, V and Ti contents. Mathematical analysis of the results recommends the modification of some parameters such as the supersaturation ratio (ks) and constant B, which is no longer a constant but a function of ks. The expressions are now more consistent and predict the Precipitation-Time-Temperature (PTT) curves with remarkable accuracy. The model for strain-induced precipitation kinetics is completed by means of Avramis equation. Finally, the model constructed in isothermal testing conditions, it has been converted to continuous cooling conditions in order to apply it in hot rolling. (Author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The 51 Cr enriched Cr3+ ions, which appear on putting into solution the potassium chromate irradiated with neutrons, are separated as chromium hydroxide. The CrO42- ions occluded by the precipitate are eliminated on re precipitating the hydroxide. The more convenient irradiation time to for the production of 51 Cr has been determined as the position of the maximum in the experimental curve P=f(t), where the time-dependent index P used is defined as the product of the number. AbstractAbstract
[en] Breast screening programs include large number of women, most of them asymptomatic, receiving a significant absorbed dose. Under these circumstances, estimation of breast dose arises as a valuable tool to evaluate carcinogenic risk to the patient. Dose estimation can also become a tool for comparison of imaging systems, beam qualities and techniques for mammography. Mammographic systems have undergone many changes since its origins: new beam qualities have been introduced and digital mammography has replaced conventional systems. Data obtained from 2266 mammographic studies, during more than ten years of experience on the Canary Islands Breast Cancer Screening Program, have been analysed. Semi-automatic exposure control, completely automatic exposure control, screen-film and full field digital systems have been considered, Average glandular dose (the carcinogenic risk indicator) received by patients has been compared. A reduction in average glandular dose of full field digital mammography has been found. The optimisation of exposition parameters appears as critical factor on dose reduction. (Author) 26 refs.

AbstractAbstract
[en] During the operation of the plants generated several slightly contaminated materials that can be managed conventionally by declassification. Declassification activity is incorporated into the Waste Management Plan of each plant considered a good practice. However experience to date demonstrates that there are difficulties to carry out the practice.

AbstractAbstract
[en] We study the relation of the possible observation on the radiative decays μ→eγ and τ→μγ and LFV processes that could be detectable at a linear collider (LC) with a centre-of-mass energy in the TeV range. We use supersymmetric parameters consistent with cosmological considerations and with LHC searches for supersymmetry and the Higgs mass while we link the charged lepton flavor problem to the neutrino predictions in a SU(5) GUT model, enhanced by an abelian flavor symmetry.

AbstractAbstract
[en] The main purpose of this study is to apply a multigroup confirmatory analysis to examine the measurement invariance (MI) of the adapted version of the Job Diagnosis Survey (JDS) as a measurement tool that analyses the relationship between the features of teaching methodologies with university students’ motivation and satisfaction across data collected on different degrees and academic years. Design/methodology/approach: Confirmatory factor analysis was carried out using a multigroup structural equation model, using the program EQS 6.1 to test the invariance of the adapted version of JDS in a sample constituted by 535 student of a Spanish public university. The assessment of invariance included the levels of configural, metric, scalar, covariance and latent variables invariance. Several goodness-of-fit measures were assessed... (Author)
