AbstractAbstract
[en] The differential cross sections of the 91Zr(p,n)91Nb reaction were measured to all final states up to the excitation energy of 2.8 MeV in a time-of-flight experiment using injection energies between 4.5 and 5.4 MeV. For two injection energies the reaction occurs through T = 6 analog states in the compound nucleus. The measurements are analyzed on the basis of the statistical model of the compound nucleus reaction. The cross sections and angular distributions are calculated according to Hauser-Feshbach formulae and simplified formulae in which the sum over the open reaction channels is expressed in terms of the width and the distance of the compound states and the spin distribution in the residual nucleus. The transmission coefficients for neutrons are determined experimentally from the branching ratio in the decay of the 4+ and 2+ analog states to 91Nb states whose spin and parity is known; the transmission of the protons is calculated on the basis of several parameter laws of the optical model from the literature. In einem Flugzeitexperiment wurden bei Einschussenergien zwischen 4,5 und 5,4 MeV die differentiellen Wirkungsquerschnitte der Reaktion 91Zr(p,n)91Nb zu allen Endzustaenden bis zur Anregungsenergie von 2,8 MeV gemessen. Bei zwei Einschussenergien verlaeuft die Reaktion ueber T=6-Analogzustaende im Compoundkern. Die Messungen werden im Rahmen des Statistischen Modells der Compoundkernreaktion analysiert. Wirkungsquerschnitte und Winkelverteilungen werden nach den Hauser-Feshbach-Formeln und nach vereinfachten Formeln berechnet, in denen die Summe ueber die offenen Reaktionskanaele durch Breite und Abstand der Compoundzustaende und die Spinverteilung im Restkern ausgedrueckt ist. Die Transmissionskoeffizienten fuer Neutronen werden experimentell aus dem Verzweigungsverhaeltnis beim Zerfall der 4+- und 2+-Analogzustaende zu 91Nb-Zustaenden mit bekanntem Spin und Paritaet bestimmt; die Transmission der Protonen wird nach mehreren Parametersaetzen des Optischen Modells aus der Literatur berechnet. AbstractAbstract
[en] Ternary and quaternary spontaneous decay of 252Cf was studied with the NESSI detector, a combination of two 4π detectors for charged particles, neutrons and γ-rays. The applied method of particle identification by measuring the energies and relative time-of-flights of the decay products is shown to be very effective for the study of rare decay modes. The energy and angular distributions of the decay products, the associated neutron multiplicities, the total energy of the prompt γ-radiation as well as correlations between the various observables were measured for the first time in a single full-scale experiment. The characteristics of ternary fission known from previous investigations are confirmed in the frame of a methodically independent experiment. Preliminary estimates of the quaternary fission yield are presented. An attempt is made to determine the mechanism of quaternary fission. (orig.)
