[en] The determination of nitrogen in individual hydrocarbon feedstocks and petroleums by irradiation with fast neutrons was discussed, and the N content of 12 Kazakh petroleums was determined by this method, ranging from 0.062% in Martyshi petroleum to 0.173% in Kumsai P1 petroelum. The amount of 13N formed in secondary reactions with protons, designated ''false'' N, was shown to depend linearly on Wsub(C)Wsub(H)Rsub(p), where Wsub(H) and Wsub(C) are the relative weight contents of H and C in a given substance respectively, and Rsub(p) is the proton path. The amounts of ''false'' N were determined by the method of A. Botvina et al (1971), and were tabulated along with values of Rsub(p) and Wsub(C)Wsub(H)Rsub(p) for 5 materials. The simultaneous determination of C, N, and O, proposed by T. Blankova and V. Rusyaev (1971) was not considered worthwhile because C and H could be determined only within 10-15% by the method

[en] A method for experimental studying of metal sputtering by reactor neutrons is described which permits to determine the quantity of sputtered atoms, their isotope ratio and to compare the latter with the sputtered target isotope ratio. A considerable difference is found between the isotope ratio of the sputtered substance and that of the targets, which points to the difference between the emission mechanisms of stable and radioactive gold isotopes
