AbstractAbstract
[en] Recent CDF results with 110 pb-1 of data on top quark production and decay properties are presented. Limits are placed on single top quark production in the W* and W-gluon channels. A measurement of the polarization of the intermediate W boson in top decay, a search for resonances in the mass of the tbar t system, and the transverse momentum of top quarks in tbar t events are presented

AbstractAbstract
[en] The authors measure the bottom (b) and charm (c) content in an inclusive jet sample collected from the 1992-93 run at the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) in p bar p collisions at √s=1.8 TeV. They have used the Silicon Vertex Detector (SVX) with a 2-dimensional secondary-vertex finding algorithm to identify a sample of jets with displaced vertices. By fitting the observed lifetime distribution in data to the expected distributions from bottom, charm, and non-heavy flavor jets, they can measure a bottom and charm component per jet. The authors present preliminary numbers on the bottom and charm fraction per jet, and the bottom and charm cross-sections

AbstractAbstract
[en] A test of a gas Cherenkov counter was performed at Fermilab in the High Energy Muon Lab in order to understand its performance as a trigger counter for muons above a given momentum. This counter was built so that it could rotate relative to the beam direction to simulate the bending of muon tracks in the toroidal magnet of the Solenoidal Detector Collaboration (SDC) being designed for use at the Superconducting Super Collider (SSC). The SDC Cherenkov counter is so designed that a high momentum muon would emit Cherenkov light that is focussed on the face of a photomultiplier tube while a low momentum muon in the forward element of the SDC detector is bent to large enough angles so that the light is focussed away from the photomultiplier tube. We present the observed changes in pulse height as the counter is rotated and the simulated resultant trigger efficiency for a given photomultiplier output pulse. (orig.)
