AbstractAbstract
[en] Nonmagnetic proton detectors will be used in future at the ELAN experiment. For this purpose a prototype of a proton telescope has being designed. The detector consists of three scintillation counters which are used as dE/dx counter, energy (stopping) counter and veto counter. This telescope was calibrated by using elastic electron proton scattering and tested with quasielastic electrodisintegration of the deuteron. These are no principal problems to identify the protons. In the electrodisintegration of the deuteron a missing mass resolution of ± 5.1 MeV was achieved. It has been shown, that such detectors are well suited for proton detection. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A study of deuteron electrodisintergration has been performed as the first experiment at the new Bonn 3.5 GeV electron stretcher and accelerator ELSA. This process was measured at an average four-momentum transfer Q2 = 0.122 (GeV/c)2 in the invariant hadron mass range of 2.02-2.30 GeV. The outgoing proton was detected in coincidence with the scattered electron at three different adjustments of the spectrometer (Θlabp = 44deg, 56deg, 68deg). The measured differential cross sections show the influence of the excitation of the Δ(1232) resonance in the deuteron. The experimental results are compared to theoretical calculations which include meson exchange currents, final-state interactions and isobar currents. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The ratio of neutron and proton yields at quasifree kinematics was measured for the reactions 2H(e,e'n) and 2H(e,e'p) at momentum transfers Q2=0.125, 0.255, 0.417, and 0.605(GeV/c)2, detecting the neutron and the proton simultaneously in the same scintillator array. The neutron detection efficiency was measured in situ with the 1H(γ,π+)n reaction. From this the ratio R of 2H(e,e'n) and 2H(e,e'p) cross sections was determined and used to extract the neutron magnetic form factor GnM in a model insensitive approach, resulting in an inaccuracy between 2.1% and 3.3% in GnM
