AbstractAbstract

[en] Solid and gaseous targets were bombarded with a 28 MeV H₂⁺-beam of the Bonn cyclotron. The emerging particles (H₂⁺, H⁺, H⁰) were energy- and angle-analyzed with high resolution. The transmission and angular distribution of the outgoing molecules were measured. The latter is compared to the multiple scattering of 14 MeV protons. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract

[en] A 10⁺ isomer has been established at Esub(x) = 3208.5 keV with tau = 485(20) ns andg = -0.19(1). The coexistence of this state with the other neutron-dominated 10⁺ state at backbending [Esub(x) = 3719.3 keV, tau = 8(1) ps, g = -0.20(20)] is unexpected. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract

[en] Projectile excitation of rare isotopes provided as low-intensity beams has been used to measure g factors of low-lying states with life times in the picoseconds range. The experiments are perturbed angular correlation measurements utilizing the strong hyperfine fields in partially stripped projectile ions. So far, only a small number of published experiments have yielded modest results. (author)

Spin precession of the ¹²C(2₁⁺) state on recoil in polarized iron

AbstractAbstract

[en] A PAC measurement on the 4.43 MeV ¹²C(2⁺) state on recoil in magnetized iron has yielded an integral precession angle of phi=+0.85(14) mrad, which exceeds the Lindhard-Winther prediction by about two orders of magnitude. Evidently, large magnetic fields act at nuclei traversing solids at high velocities (vsub(rec)/c=0.03 in the present case), thereby holding out the prospect of g-factor measurements for nuclear states in this lifetime range.
