AbstractAbstract
[en] The data of Pu-238, 239, 240 distribution in river sediments of the Pripyat valley are given. The investigations have shown that modern processes of the river transport differentiate the Plutonium distribution according to the facies-geochemical features: oxbow>food plain>channel sediments in ratio 69:21:1. There is a direct correlation between a number of revealed ''hot'' particles and the Pu activity in the river sediments. (Author). 12 refs., 2 tabs

AbstractAbstract
[en] The use of a replaceable polyhedral insert in burnishing is considered. Specifically, the influence of the insert’s configuration on the surface quality of a steel surface after burnishing is studied in complete factorial experiments. The surface quality is assessed in terms of the mean deviation Ra of the profile; the profile’s relative reference length tp (p = 5%); the mean spacing Sm of the microprojections; and the mean spacing S of local projections. The parameters considered in determining the configuration the burnishing tool (replaceable polyhedral insert) are the interference i, the positional angle φ' of the tool around the vertical axis; and its positional angle ψ around the horizontal axis.

AbstractAbstract
[en] The influence of the following factors on the surface roughness of steel workpieces after burnishing is studied experimentally: the method of attaching the polyhedral insert, the interference, the flow velocity, and the burnishing speed. The surface roughness is assessed in terms of the mean profile deviation Ra.

AbstractAbstract
[en] The industrial environmental control includes monitoring of specific air contaminants typical of a particular industry. Determination of the pollutant levels at the border of the sanitary protection zone consists of the preliminary sampling and subsequent analysis in a specialized laboratory. The article discusses various methods of sampling for a group of volatile organic compounds (using sample bags) and polyaromatic hydrocarbons (using a sorption tube and a filter to collect solid particles), depending on their physicochemical properties and the characteristics of distribution. AbstractAbstract
[en] The crystallization of some inorganic salts (KH2PO4, NaCl, Sr(NO3)2, KNO2, Ca(OH)2) by the thermal-gradient (with decreasing temperature) and solvent-evaporation methods using microwave heating of solutions is investigated. It is established that the growth rates of single crystals in a microwave field are an order of magnitude higher than obtained in other known techniques at comparable crystallization temperatures and supersaturations. For example, the growth rate of prismatic faces {100} of KH2PO4 crystals is as high as 11 mm/day at supersaturations of ∼1.2%. The results obtained are discussed in the context of the effect of microwave radiation on the adsorption surface layers of crystals. Fine-grained phases of the salts under study are obtained by evaporation of the solvent

AbstractAbstract
[en] A stable high-power laser is developed for the study and technical applications of a continuous optical discharge (COD). The laser based on the technology of a combined discharge in a scheme with a fast axial gas flow emits 2.2 kW at 10.6 μm per meter of the active medium in continuous and repetitively pulsed regimes with the electrooptical efficiency 20%. The sustaining of the COD plasma in argon and air is demonstrated at the atmospheric pressure. The emission properties of the COD plasma are studied and its possible applications are discussed. AbstractAbstract
[en] The paper deals with the treatment of used car tires. The method of used tires plasma gasification is proposed. The investigation of the syngas composition was carried out according to the temperature and plasma flow rate variation. The method of the steam catalytic conversion of CO, which is a part of the syngas, and CaO usage are suggested. The results of the calculation modeling at various temperatures, pressures, and steam flow rates are presented.
