AbstractAbstract
[en] Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) was regarded as a potential cancer therapy but the successful application of BNCT to the treatment of cancer was still not approached due to their low water solubility, stability and low selectivity towards cancer cells. We developed a procedure for the synthesis water-soluble BNCT agents based on o-carboranyl-s-triazines containing polyol and polycarboxylic acid groups. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Synthesis of the first fully characterized boronated tetrahydroisoquinolines is reported. Thus, tetrahydroisoquinolines containing 1-(0-carboran-1-ylmethyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinolines have been synthesized from the corresponding arylethylamines to provide carboranes attached to functional group capable of being covalently incorporated into structures of potential use in boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT). The carboranyl functionalities were attached at the 1-position of the tetrahydroisoquinoline molecule. Experimental details and analytical data leading to the identification of the reported compounds are provided. Additionally, the X-ray diffraction structure of 9b is reported. (author)
