AbstractAbstract
[en] Time correlation coincidence (TCC) is an effective method to measure characteristics of fission materials. In this paper, MCNP code is used to simulate n/γ time-of-flight spectra (TOF) of a "2"5"2Cf spontaneous fission source detected by a BC-501A liquid scintillator. The results are in good agreement with the measured spectra. Therefore, n/γ TCC spectra of the "2"5"2Cf source are simulated. The results indicate that the n/γ TCC spectra are composed of the n-n, γ-γ, n-γ and γ-n coincidence. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Based on the linear increase in the amount of 231Pa with time in a sample of highly enriched uranium (HEU), the HEU age is determined by measurement of the atomic ratio of 231Pa to 235U. The daughter nuclide 231Pa is separated and purified from its parent nuclide 235U by solvent extraction with N-benzoyl-N-phenylhydroxylamine (BPHA) with a recovery of higher than 67%. The radioactivity of 231Pa and 235U is measured with an HPGe γ-spectrometer and a large-area gridded ionization chamber α-spectrometer, respectively. The overall uncertainty in HEU age determination is estimated to be 8%. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The prompt neutron spectra of 238U fission induced by 10.17 and 12.12 MeV neutrons have been measured using a multi-segment fission chamber and two ST-451 liquid scintillator neutron detectors in conjunction with a double-TOF technique. Use of coincidence between the fission fragments and neutrons enables the fission neutrons to be distinguished from other secondary ones. The measured spectra can be roughly described by Maxwellian distributions. The Maxwellian temperatures obtained by fitting are 1.40 +- 0.04 MeV and 1.47 +- 0.04 MeV for 10.17 MeV and 12.12 MeV incident neutron energies, respectively. They are compared with theoretical calculations by code FINESSE and with evaluation by ENDF/B-VI
