AbstractAbstract
[en] An ion implantation system based on a 30 keV mini-separator has been set up and tested at Fudan University. With the system, up to some ten μA/cm2 of ion beam current of rare-earth elements such as Y, Ce, Ho, La, Sm, Nd and Yb, have been obtained. The modification of corrosion resistance for an Y ion implanted stainless steel sample has also been investigated

AbstractAbstract
[en] A low energy ion detector consisting of an Al2O3 conversion dynode, an electrical optical system and a channeltron has been designed and tested. Ion beams bombard the converter plate at an angle of 70 degree, and secondary electrons are focused and then detected by the channeltron. For 10 keV Ar ions, the variation of efficiency with counting rate has been studied and efficiency is 100% for counting rate of up to 104 cps

AbstractAbstract
[en] An apparatus for electron impact ionization of ions was constructed. Using the crossed-beams technique, a single-charge-ion beam collides perpendicularly with an electron beam. The collision products are analysed and measured. As the first stage of the research project on electron impact ionization of ions, the absolute cross sections for single ionization of Ar+ and Cl+ at electron energies ranging from 30 to 500 eV have been measured. The uncertainty of the cross section is about +-13%

AbstractAbstract
[en] A distorted wave born exchange (DWBE) approximation is used to calculate the cross section of electron impact ionization for atomic hydrogen. Both the energy differential cross sections and the integral cross section from calculation are compared with the latest experimental data. The comparison shows good agreement between theoretical and experimental results. The small difference between these results is also discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] By using a distorted-wave Born exchange approximation, the direct ionization cross section of boron-like ions by electron impact have been calculated. The interferences between direct and exchange amplitudes make important contribution in the process of ionization. The calculated results indicate that the 'natural Phase' approximation is better than the 'Maximum Interference' approximation, while the latter agrees better with experiments for some other species of ions. Compared with Coulomb-Born approximation of Moores et al., the calculation gives better agreement with the experiment data available

[en] The single-electron capture cross sections for the impact of rare-earth ions Ce+, Ho+ on H2 are measured in the energy range 3-8 keV by 'growth rate' method. The measurement also reveals that the incident ions are predominantly in ground state
