AbstractAbstract
[en] Samples of human cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) have been investigated by PIXE analysis. Trace elements of K, Ca, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn and Br were determined from observed X-ray spectra. Elemental concentrations in CSF samples from men without brain disease and from patients with brain disease have been compared. The variation of elemental concentrations in CSF samples, taken from patents before and after paraplegia surgery, was also studied

AbstractAbstract
[en] Rare-earth element targets of Gd, Eu and Nd were bombarded by protons with energies between 0.4 and 2.75 MeV. The L-subshell X-ray production cross-sections were measured, and the ionization cross-sections of 2S1/2, 2P1/2 and 2P3/2 subshells were obtained. Experimental ionization cross-sections and their ratios were compared with the prediction of ECPSSR theory

AbstractAbstract
[en] L-subshell ionization cross sections of Th and U are determined for proton bombardment of energies 0.8-3.4 MeV. Thin Th and U targets are used. The L-shell X-rays and backscattering protons are measured. L-subshell ionization cross sections under proton impact are obtained and compared with the ECPSSR theory

AbstractAbstract
[en] The thick targets of Al, Ti and Ni are bombarded by 250-430 keV protons and the thin targets of Al are bombarded by 0.4-3.0 MeV protons. The K-shell X-ray production cross sections are measured and the ionization cross sections are deduced. The experimental results are compared with semi-classical and ECPSSR theories

[en] The thin target M-shell X-ray production cross sections have been measured for Ta, Au and Bi with impact over the energy from 0.6 to 2.75 MeV. The measured cross sections are compared with the plane wave Born approximation (PWBA) theory

AbstractAbstract
[en] L-shell X-ray cross sections of Eu, Gd, Dy and Ho have been measured for incident 2.25-4.50 MeV Li2+ ions. Relative intensity ratios of Eu are reported. All the measured data are expressed graphically in terms of the energy of the projectile and compared with the predictions of ECPSSR (Energy loss, Coulomb deflections perturbed stationary states and relativistic effects) theory. A reasonable agreement has been found. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Stellar thermonuclear reaction rates for 58Ni(p, γ)59Cu reaction have been obtained from thick target measurement, of which the experimental technique is described. The thermonuclear reaction rates are calculated from thick target yield for temperatures of interest in explosive nucleosynthesis. The results are compared with previous studies and Woosley's theoretical predictons

AbstractAbstract
[en] High Tc superconducting Y-Ba-Cu-O sample is bombarded by 20 keV Ar+ ion beam. The composition of the bulk sample before and after sputtering is analyzed by means of PIXE method. The composition change at the surface of the bulk sample after sputtering is presented and discussed. The particles sputtered from the surface of the bulk sample are collected on a substrate of silicon. The composition of the film formed on the substrate is determined by PIXE (Proton induced X-ray emission) and RBS (Rutherford Backscattering Spectroscopy) combined with 16O(α, α)16O nuclear resonance scattering

[en] The K X-ray relative transition probabilities Kβ/Kα of some elements for atomic numbers 23 ≤ Z ≤ 33 induced by 3 MeV protons were measured. The experimental results are compared with the relativistic Hartree-Fock (RHF) calculations. Good agreements have been obtained considering the experimental error. (author)
