AbstractAbstract
[en] Human teeth from pre-Columbian and recent population groups have been analyzed by PIXE. Ancient teeth corresponding to children and adults were obtained from archaeological burials located in five geographic areas of Mexico. Inter-specific and inter-site differences in the trace element contents of enamel were compared in order to get some insight into differences in diet, environmental conditions, teeth health, disease state and post mortem alteration among the co-occurring populations. For permanent teeth from adults, small variations in trace element levels were found depending on the collection site or tooth health, but for deciduous teeth from children, the concentration of elements such as Mn, Fe and Sr varied considerably. In this work, the possible sources of variation are discussed. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper describes the working of neutron logging instrument in petroleum wells. A theoretical fundamental of the method, the measure principles and the uses are mentioned. It is also described the software, hardware, results of system validation in calibration tank and results from the registered wells. It is concluded that the obtained results with this equipment are suitable for a correct utilization, allowing the best control of the well exploitation. 7 refs

AbstractAbstract
[en] In this work we describe the development of an array of 7 neutron detectors through the use of solid plastic scintillating material and photomultiplier tubes. Furthermore the nuclear reaction d(D,3He)n produced with a Tandem accelerator at ININ was used to measure the energy dependent neutron detection efficiency of our detectors with the associated particle technique

AbstractAbstract
[en] Fusion excitation functions are measured for the o, p and n evaporation channels in the fusion of the 12 C + 12 C system at center of mass energies between 4.5 and 6.5 MeV, with energy steps of 75 keV. The X-ray technique is used with a new absolute normalization method which is independent of charge collection and allows at the same time to monitor the Carbon buildup on the target. Good agreement is obtained with absolute cross section values previously measured using particle detection techniques, but smaller energy steps are used in the present experiment. As in previous works much structure is seen in the excitation function which is consistent with the positions of resonances reported in the literature for this system. (Author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A new procedure to obtain an online measurement of the beam intensity for charged particle accelerators, as well as the total charge deposited on a target, using a commercial beam profile monitor (BPM) is described in this paper. This procedure can be an alternative to the use of Faraday cups in experiments where their implementation is not feasible
