AbstractAbstract
[en] The characteristics of excitation of helium and neon atoms by fast protons and antiprotons are calculated in the multichannel diffraction approximation. The appearance of charge asymmetry in both the total excitation cross sections and the degree of linear polarization of the radiation emitted by the excited atom and associated with the alignment of the angular momentum of the atom in the excited state is investigated. It is pointed out that the polarization characteristics are especially sensitive to the sign of the charge of the exciting particle

AbstractAbstract
[en] On the basis of distorted wave Born approximation the method of theoretical description of inelastic electron scattering of intermediate energy on atoms with account for excitation of autoionized states is developed. As an example excitation of 4d-15p1p state in cadmium atom some peculiarities of resonance ionization to which the account of distortions of incident and scattered waves as compared with plane wave Born approximation leads, are discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] Characteristics of helium and neon atom excitation by fast protons and antiprotons are calculated in the multichannel diffraction approximation. The charge asymmetry is investigated which manifests in total excitation cross sections and in the linear polarization fraction of radiation in the de-excitation of the atom which is due to the alignment of the excited state angular momentum. High sensitivity of polarization characteristics to the charge of the projectile is noted

AbstractAbstract
[en] The investigations of ultrashort (0.4-0.6 ps) laser pulse radiation interaction with solid targets have been carried out. The Trident subpicosecond laser system was used for plasma creation. The X-ray plasma emission was investigated with the help of high-resolution spectrographs with spherically bent mica crystals. It is shown that when high contrast ultrashort laser pulses were used for plasma heating its emission spectra could not be explained in terms of commonly used theoretical models, and transitions in so called hollow atoms must be taken into account for adequate description of plasma radiation

AbstractAbstract
[en] The previously developed theory of excitation and decay of an isolated autoionising state during the ionisation of an atom by fast electrons is generalised to the case of several channels. This approach is applied to the calculation of the parameters of the (2s)-1(3p)1P resonance in neon in the spectra of scattered and ejected electrons, as well as in the spectrum of the (e, 2e) process. Calculations were made in the Born approximation within the framework of the Herman-Skillman model and the Hartree-Fock model with a frozen core. It is shown that the occurrence of a significant 'recoil' peak in the correlation function between the ejected and scattered electrons leads to a weak dependence of the resonance profile on the ejection angle in the (e, 2e) process. AbstractAbstract
[en] We have performed L-shell spectroscopy and one-dimensional (1-D) imaging of a line focus plasma from a laser-heated Fe polished slab using the tabletop COMET laser system at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. These plasmas are used to generate a Ne-like Fe transient gain x-ray laser that is recorded simultaneously. A spherically-curved crystal spectrometer gives high resolution x-ray spectra of the n = 3-2 and n = 4-2 resonance lines with 1-D spatial resolution along the line focus. Spectra are presented for different laser pulse conditions. In addition, a variety of x-ray imaging techniques are described. We discuss imaging results from a double-slit x-ray camera with a spherically-curved crystal spectrometer. We show a high resolution Fe K-α spectrum from the x-ray laser target that indicates the presence of hot electrons in the x-ray laser plasma

AbstractAbstract
[en] Spectral lines of Ne-like Ni XIX ion corresponding to nl-2l' transitions with n=4-15 are recorded for the first time in laser plasma emission spectra. Wave lengths of the mentioned transitions are measured with ± (0.5-2.5) mA accuracy when spectral lines of H- and He-like Na, Mg and Cl ions are used as reference points. Ionization potential of Ne-like Ni XIX is measured. Strong interaction of 2s22p55d and 2s2p64p configurations of this ion is proved experimentally. 17 refs.; 8 figs
