AbstractAbstract
[en] The influence of spin trap addition in the form of α-phenyl-N-tert-butylnitron (PBN) on the formation of stable products as a result of benzene γ-radiolysis in liquid phase at room temperature has been studied. Irradiation of deaerated solution was conducted using 60Co γ-source with the dose rate of 3.5 Gy/s. The maximum radiation dose was 25 kGy. It is shown that the presence of 0.05 PBN in benzene results in the decrease of total radiation-chemical yield of the dimers (diphenyl and diphenylcyclohexadiene) by ∼ 0.06 molecule/100 eV. The spin trap decomposition yield is 2±1 molecule/100 eV

AbstractAbstract
[en] Effect of acetylacetonates of Cr, Mn, Fe, Co on the yeild of dimer products of benzene radiolysis is investigated. Chelate solutions in benzene were irradiated by doses up to 90 kHz at 60Co γ-source, dose rate was 5.7-6.1 Gr/s. At benzene irradiation with low doses dimers are the main constituent of the basic product of benzene radiolysis in liquid phase. It is noticed that bis-acetylacetonatocobalt (2) considerably decreases radiation-chemical dimer yields. Proposal is made on kinetics of running reactions

AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper investigates the formation of diphenyl and phenylcyclohexadiene in the radiolysis of benzene in the presence of the following acetylacetonates: Cr (AA)3, Mn (AA)2.2H2O, Mn (AA)3, Fe (AA)2.2H2O, Fe (AA)3, Co (AA)3. It was found that bisacetylacetonatocobalt (II) lowers the radiation chemical yields of the dimers to a substantial degree. It was suggested that the effect is caused by a reaction of addition of free radicals, arising under the action of radiation, to the central ion of the chelate

AbstractAbstract
[en] Formation of toluene radiolysis dimeric products in the presence of cobalt, iron and manganese acetylacetonates is studied. It is shown that Co(AA)2 considerably decreases the yield of benzyl-methyl cyclohexadiene but has no specific influence on dibenzyl yield. Explanation of the observed acetylacetonate influence is presented

AbstractAbstract
[en] Effect of a number of macrocyclic polyethers on dimer product formation during liquid phase benzene and toluene γ-radiolysis (60Co, dose rates 5.0-5.4 Gy/s) is investigated. It is stated that radiation-chemical yield of diphenyl and phenyl cyclohexadienes is considerably decreased during benzene radiolysis in the presence of additions while during toluene radiolysis some increase in dimer yield is observed (excluding dibenzyl in case of dibenzo-24-crown-8 addtion). Possible mechanisms of crown ethers effect on radiolysis of aromatic hydrocarbons are suggested

AbstractAbstract
[en] Effect of 60Co gamma-radiation on benzene containing KMnO4 solubilized with crown-ether is studied. Radiation was carried out at room temperature with doses up to 28 kGy at dose rate of 3.9 Gy/s. Sharp increase of diphenyl yield and absence of phenylcyclohexadiene (PCH) in radiolysis products points out interaction of permanganate-ion with predecessors of PCH formation. High yield of permanganate decomposition results from reactions with excited molecules of the solvent

AbstractAbstract
[en] The formation of gaseous products of the gamma radiolysis of benzene in the presence of Co(acac)2 was studied, and the radiation-chemical yields of hydrogen, acetylene methane, and ethylene were determined. Spectrophotometric data showed that, as a result of irradiation, oxidation of the additive occurred, with formation of cobalt(III) complexes. Yields of biphenyl and phenylcyclohexadienes were determined in these benzene solutions, and also in systems containing Co(acac)2 with 18-crown-6. Possible mechanisms of the processes taking place are discussed. 10 refs., 2 tabs
