AbstractAbstract
[en] The process of complexation in the systems: Ln(C104)3-PAN-CH3OH-H2O has been studied spectophotometrically. Fortmation of the complexes LnL++(where: L=PAN-, Ln=Pr3+, Nd3+, Sm3+, Eu3+, Gd3+, Tb3+, Ho3+, Er3+, Yb3+ and Lu3+) has been found. Equilibrium constants for complexing reactions and stability constants have been determined. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The formation of PAN complexes in the systems Ln(III)-PAN-alcohol-water (where: Ln(III) = Ho, Lu and alcohol = ethanol, n-propanol, iso-propanol) was investigated by a spectrophotometric method. Equilibrium constants for the reaction Ln3+ + HL <=> LnL2+ + H+ (HL = PAN) and stability constants of complexes LnL2+ were calculated. (Author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] PMR spectra of ethylene, diethylene, and triethylene glycol and of their solutions with cobaltous perch orate were analyzed. The introduction of cobaltous ion is followed by the separation of the signal of non-equivalent methylene groups, which are equivalent in pure diethylene and triethylene glycols. It is explained by the hydrogen bond structure in glycols broken by electrolyte. All proton signals in the spectrum of glycol solutions are shifted downfield in comparison to pure glycols. The obtained results indicate that the coordination of glycol ligands is bidentate, and takes course through the oxygen atom of OH groups. Isotropic shifts and coupling constants in the [Co(glycol)3] (ClO4)2 complexes were estimated. In order to explain the observed experimental variations of proton screening in the examined systems, there was assumed a spin density delocalization mechanism. (author)

[en] The solvent extraction of yttrium(III), lanthanum(III) and certain lanthanides(III) (Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Tm) by 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-benzoyl-5-pyrazolone in carbon tetrachloride from water-methanol phase was investigated. It was confirmed that the presence of methanol in aqueous phase has a synergistic effect pH0.5x and the conditional extraction constants from water-50% (V/V) methanol phase were determined. The separation factors of Y(III), La(III), Pr(III), Nd(III), Sm(III), Eu(III) for the individual rare earth elements were calculated. (author). 14 refs, 3 figs, 2 tabs

[en] The extraction of Y(III) with either carbon tetrachloride solutions of 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-benzoyl-5-pyrazolone (HPMBP) or 8-hydroxyquinoline (HOx) in chloroform from water-ethanol (EtOH) phase was studied. The adduct complexes Y(PMBP)3 · t EtOH and YOx3 · 2 EtOH were found in the organic phase. The parameters characterizing the extraction process of Y(III) were evaluated. The separation factors of Y(III) from Pr(III) and Gd(III) during the extraction with HOx were calculated. (author). 25 refs, 3 figs, 1 tab

AbstractAbstract
[en] This work concerns the influence of high temperatures on tracks induced in solid state nuclear track detectors of the CR-39/PM-355 type. In order to investigate this effect some samples of the detectors were irradiated with energetic protons and α particles and subsequently heated under controlled temperatures for different periods of time. After heating the samples were etched and the track evolution was analyzed using an optical microscope. The bulk etch rate VB of the PM-355 material was also determined as a function of heating temperature. The track etch rate VT values were estimated for craters induced by protons and α particles from track diameter measurement as a function of heating temperature.

AbstractAbstract
[en] Separation factors (SLn1-Ln2) for particular pairs of heavy lanthanides(III) during their extraction with 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-benzoyl-5-pyrazolone (HPMBP) in carbon tetrachloride or 8-hydroxyquinoline (HOx) in chloroform were calculated. The presence of 50% (V/V) methanol in aqueous phase for the extraction of lanthanides(III) with HOx in CHCl3 causes the increase of SLn1-Ln2 for most pairs of the investigated lanthanides. In the case of the extraction with HPMBP in CCl4, the presence of 50% (V/V) methanol in the aqueous phase causes a slight increase of SLn1-Ln2 only for the following pairs: Ho-Dy, Tm-Dy, Lu-Dy, Ho-Gd, Tm-Yb and Lu-Yb. For the remaining pairs the decrease of SLn1-Ln2 was observed. (author). 9 refs, 2 figs, 3 tabs
