AbstractAbstract
[en] Routine radation measurements of samples are performed by the HMI health physics department by means of test stations for individual samples and multiple samples (using a changing equipment). The basic device of these test stations is a SCALER/TIMER system (BF 22/25, BERTHOLD Corp.). This measuring facility has been extended by a CAMAC intrumentation which incorporates an autonomous CAMAC processor (CAPRO-1, INCAA B.V.) for monitoring an automatic control of the system. The programming language is BASIC. A DECwriter (LA 34) is used for user interaction and for printing the measurement results. This report describes the features of this system and present some examples of, the dialogue with the system and the printout of data. (orig.)

Fuer die routinemaessige Strahlenuntersuchung von Proben werden im HMI Einzel- und und Probenwechsler-Messplaetze eingesetzt, die mit einem SCALER/TIMER System (BF 22725, Firma BERTHOLD) ausgeruestet sind. Dieses Messsystem wurde durch eine CAMAC-Instrumentierung mit einem autonomen CAMAC-Prozessor (CAPRO-1, Firma INCAA) erweitert, welches den Messablauf ueberwacht und steuert. Das Messprogramm wurde in BASIC implementiert. Zur Steuerung des Messablaufes und zur Protokollierung der Messdaten wird ein DECwriter (LA 34) verwendet. Der Bericht beschreibt die Eigenschaften des neuen Gesamtsystems. Weiterhin werden an Hand einiger Beispiele die Bedienung sowie die Messprotokolle dargestellt. (orig.)Original Title

[en] An analytical approach to calculate the incoherent tune shift in the presence of non-linear space charge forces is described in this paper. Closed form expressions to evaluate the dependence of the space charge detuning on betatron amplitude have been derived previously for a beam of elliptic cross section with Gaussian distribution in transverse dimensions, under the condition that each particle has the same momentum. The present computation considers in addition the dependence of the space charge detuning on momentum, for a beam with Gaussian momentum distribution. Two effects are taken into account for an exact calculation: the widening of the beam due to momentum spread and the variation of the tune shift with the longitudinal position in the bunch. Application to the present high intensity beams in the CERN PS machine and to the foreseen beam for LHC is discussed
